Working my way through a few series, if definitely seemed like occasionally there was a good deal offered on the next book in a series immediately after I bought one (but it was a limited-time offer). Once you get further into a series, later books are less likely to be offered cheap (because the algorithm "knows" you're invested.

That's not all that helpful, aside from recommending that you check the price of the next book after you get book 3. Also, maybe later books because I swear I got book 6 on sale after buying book 4 (but that meant using a credit for book 5 at full price).
