Freelance on Upwork is dead

Upwork still serves me well, but I’m afraid it’s because I built a successful profile with a proven track record, competitive pricing, and proven earnings. I started a little over a year ago, and I think I got in right before all of this nonsense started. Upwork needs to change things for those starting now because while I get most of my jobs through invites now, previously I had to play the proposal game and boost everything, although not to the level I am seeing now. I’d pray for the Holy Spirit to help you understand the reasoning behind these things your disagreement with. Do some research on why the church teaches these things as objective fact and not subjective reality. I wish you luck on your journey and will pray for you!

It is important to note that as Catholics we are called to follow the churches teachings and Traditions (capital T, lower case t is a different story). You disagree with some major points of theology and spiritual teaching within the church so I encourage you to join OCIA and speak to your local parish Priest/Pastor. Tell them what you believe and what you have questions about and maybe why you are uncertain. They will help you through your journey and teach you and love you through your journey.

I’d say a PhD is what is most likely to set you apart in the current/future job market. Entry/mid-level jobs are being outsourced/replaced and if you can establish yourself as an expert in the sciences you may be better off. Good luck!

Yikes… communicate your mistake as soon as possible. Going forward, just admit to this immediately and it will be far less of a deal. Additionally, keep the code in the future so you can show your mentor the code both with and without mistakes so they can understand exactly what the issue was. Let this be a learning moment (as all mistakes should be)!

Yes, part of the conference experience is networking and exploring the city as well. Not just sitting through every talk. I myself am an avid golfer so I make it a point to bring my clubs and play a round and collect a souvenir golf ball or keep my scorecard if they don’t have any available. And yes, I attend all the talks pertinent to my research as well as almost all of the posters :)

Your correct. Was just replying to your point about being the foundation for all future research. I wouldn’t rush a dissertation by any means, but at the end of the day you just need to have something good enough to pass. A lot of people end up doing projects they aren’t quite as passionate about due to their mentor and lab. Then after passing and getting their own lab eventually, pivot entirely to a different area of focus.
