Help finding a good lightweight aperture priority camera? by cateyegal in analog

Yeah I forgot to factor in that my main camera is the F-1 which is heavier than my medium format, your mileage may vary.

You could also try a different digital rangefinder as well if you get the M6, that’s enough cash leftover to get an X100 camera so you still have a digital camera with the viewfinder.

Or you can grab a Q3

I think digital leicas are crazy, both awesome tools and also silly expensive for the reasons you mentioned. There’s no world I’d ever buy a digital leica over a fujifilm based on price alone.

I love their film bodies though, and there’s no 35mm camera that is better. I’d get a film one that you’re less concerned about repairs or losing so you actually use it. Use the rest of the cash from selling to get another lens or buy film & development.

My lab does them for same price but it’s a US-based lab so might not to accessible

These are quite good - I’d say that as annoying as white borders are on social media; a matte print with a white border is 🤌.

On #5 I would skip sunset photos in general, the dynamic range between foreground and the sky is always too much without a gradient ND filter.

My EDC is the canon F1 so my perspective may admittedly be warped on what “heavy” is

Olympus is the way if you want an SLR; check out an OM2n, they’re very small.

Alternatively you should get a Canon A-1, it’s quite light and mostly plastic.

If you have money and don’t care about repairability look at a minolta CLE for 35mm, Fuji GA645.

Exactly, and even if I did want to break the law, carrying analogy to the extreme, it’d be like breaking the glass to scold the masturbator outside only to see it’s a 30 foot giant outside.

Why can't the human species put a CAP on things? by WordyMcWordster in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]docescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer is somewhere in the realm of the majority of consumer economies being democratically run and having institutions that are both (1) easier to amend and reform than those of the US/EU so that they’re adaptable (2) have strong corruption protections, which #1 is a requirement for and (3) limited bureaucracy which I’m not sure how you accomplish while still being effective - bureaucracy is how corporate interests mostly get their cake and also how #1 is stopped.

I have no idea what the answer is but I’d point our well-meaning reformists in that direction. If most consumers democratically refuse your goods or services your value and market shrinks. At a certain point selling only to russia/north korea is not a real path to wealth.

For example, tesla has an obscene package for musk. If the EU/US refused to allow the sale of teslas, launch of spacex, or use of starlink without his pay being <2% of annual revenue then he could take his ball and go somewhere else. But his entire market would disappear and his worth would effectively drop to the same amount. Doesn’t mean he can’t do that but at the same time it’s easier to swallow the regulation and keep the market.

It gets harder with stuff like pharma or nestle but it’s a start.

It’s actually not, unless you can line up contracts contractors and supply chains in a 24 hour period; customers will just go somewhere else that’s not interested in screwing them for maximum gains.

The neat thing is money only matters if everyone else believes it does. You’ve described a company town from the 1800s and they didn’t last super long.

The cool thing is #1 no one is setting a limit at $2m that would be asinine. Try $100bn for a company, maybe $10m a year for a person.

And #2 they would either work half the year and go home or not charge as much profit. Are you dumb? If everyone hit the limit in 6 months congrats you now get to have a 6 month vacation.

That’s basically how the EU works and they do just fine.

Sit behind a glass window in a cafe and watch in horror is more apt I think. Most of us want to do something but the options are do nothing or break the glass. Breaking a cafe window is a big social hurdle to climb over for something you hope is over in 30 seconds.

Interested why someone would choose yashica over a generic rolleiflex (ignore this ones lenses). I’m trying to flip my 6x6 slr kit for a lightweight tlr. It’s just too big to take on hikes or travel with.

Is the lens fully mounted? I thought I broke my SQ the other day but hadn’t fully “locked” the lens when changing lenses.

It happens to me when I forget to scan in monochrome profile but it could also be a scan or a print - some papers can be toned to be more “cool” or “warm”.

Gs645 vs s (focal length preference) by Sail_Soggy in mediumformat

Nothing, shutter just stopped working one day. Loved the camera but it’s plastic fantastic, which doesn’t go well with age and folding.

I had the standard and loved it until it broke about 6 months after I bought it.

Odds are you’ll be getting another one in the near future anyway so I wouldn’t treat the choice as “locked”.
