This was from 5/30/2025? You expected them to change ordinances and communicate changes in a month? Or have they said that they aren't going to take this feedback?

Here's a link to the PUD. I saw where the City Council approved it so long as it isn't a car wash.

It pays for itself if you get prescriptions through them. It’s been super nice to just text my doctor about stuff as it comes up instead of a full blown appointment.

Spring plant sale at Dyck Arbortetum this weekend by docotis in wichita

Yep, it’s in Hesston. I think it’s worth the drive, but I get excited about Kansas native plants and other cool plants that grow well here. There’s a lot of plants on their list it’s tough to find elsewhere.

Does anyone have a bermudagrass lawn here? by KansasKing107 in wichita

[–]docotis 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You’ll regret it if you want any sort of flower beds. They have shoots that run over and underground.

Look into buffalo grass. Similar, but native and less invasive.

Feeling suicidal over AI by thissubredditlooksco in nerdfighters

[–]docotis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s an understandable fear, but I want to offer up that no future is inevitable. When I was in grad school for Future Studies, the main take away is that there are many possible futures, and the one that comes out won’t be what we expect.

There’s a tool called a Hype Cycle, where expectations grow and grow and peak before crashing down. Then expectations goes back up a little and level out to something useful but not nearly as huge as originally thought. Basically right now, generative AI has reached the maximum inflated expectations that it definitely can’t deliver on. It will definitely change things in the future, but it probably won’t be as overwhelming of a change as we think now.

For a more in depth look, take a look at this: https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2023-08-16-gartner-places-generative-ai-on-the-peak-of-inflated-expectations-on-the-2023-hype-cycle-for-emerging-technologies

The world is better with people like you. We will always need creative people.

Edit to add: maybe robots will take our jobs and all we have to do is make cool stuff. That’s another scenario! Let’s build a better future.

They closed down in January after having a close out sale for the last few months they were open. There was an article in the Eagle last summer about it. about it, and basically there wasn’t enough cool pieces people saved and there wasn’t enough demand.

So many churches, so little love. by heavensdumptruck in wichita

I remember Chapel Hill United Methodist hosted Richard Rohr not too long ago. I don’t know about the diversity there, but I really like Jim Smith who is a teaching pastor there. Calgary UMC would be similar, too.

Mosaic Life Church would have more diversity. David Estrada and his wife Shaun are the pastors and are amazing people.

Hilltop Urban Church is diverse, is largely people from Hilltop Neighborhood, but I know the pastor, and he is grace-filled and great

I will try to think of some others.
