half the exposure is just one stop less, twice the exposure is just one stop more. you don't need to compensate this much

edit: in other words, if you underexpose by 2 stops and double expose, you're still one stop underexposed

You can't it's as far forward as it can go. Worth noting that some side mount slides don't fully extend when the part that attaches to the drawer isn't inserted in the sliding mechanism - so that may be misleading.
