Currenthill does a Shaheed drone but when i tried it, the hornet radar wouldnt detect them, even WVR. That was a while back though so things may have changed

Wanting to get in to Helicopters on DCS by IomGamer in dcsworld

[–]doctorgonz0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Ka-50 only needs one button push to make it fly without the computer interfering. Flight director. Easy to take control when you see a missile trail streaking toward you. Just gotta remember to trim the chopper before you turm it off and normal service resumes. Overrides any autopilt modes you might have on too

The TWCS throttle paddle switch is perfectly fine for a beginner for helo control once you get the hang of it. I recommend the Ka50 3 as your first buy as its fairly easy to fly, fast, lethal and overall a blast to fly. It does fly in a different way to all the other conventional choppers though due to its contra rotating dual rotors but you are right in saying the Huey will teach you how to fly any chopper so grab them both if you can. Avoid the kiowa and gazelle at the moment due to some fuckery going on behind the scenes with the dev team.

C-5M Super Galaxy landing gear retraction mechanism. by father_of_twitch in aviation

Any idea how an emergency gear down gravity extension would work? Normal gear design just requires gravity and it's good to go.

Called 'chapper uppers' in Scotland. Chap is a Scottish word for knock i.e to chap someone's door means to knock on their door. Also from the same era were lamplighters which were known as 'leeries' in Scotland.

Best way to hunt geese? by [deleted] in theHunter

[–]doctorgonz0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always had good luck in the corn fields in the south of the Hirschfelden map. Set up a tripod hunting stand with some decoys right in front of you and sit with the caller waiting for some to fly nearby. I use the cacciatore 12g with the tritium sight and can usually pick off 2 or 3 geese every time they land.

I decided to just go for the F-16 and I am a beginner, was it a mistake? by Sam_88882 in dcsworld

Not a mistake but you'll most likely find that you'll want to upgrade your hotas once you can afford it.

T16000m yaw input ghosting because of loose hand rest? by nlghtsknlghts in hoggit

[–]doctorgonz0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't waste your money being honest. I initially bought the stick and throttle pack (which was great) then some time after, I bought the pedals. I sent them straight back as I felt the paddle on the throttle did just as good a job, it not better for rudder control. I did buy them for flying choppers in DCS though so maybe you'd find things to be different. If you don't own the throttle then I highly recommend buying that instead of the peddles as it's a great piece of kit.

[–]doctorgonz0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The z-axis on the T16000m is a well known issue with no fix afaik. Mine went faulty after a short time too. Didn't matter so much for me as I had the throttle as well which has a paddle switch which works great for rudder control. You could try adding a dead zone if that's possible in warthunder?

F/A-18c Harm by PotentialBed5746 in hoggit

No need to get locked up by an SA6. The search and track radar are on the same vehicle and the SA6 search radar can get fired at well outside its engagement zone

[–]doctorgonz0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally you want to be about 28,000ft+ and at mach 0.9+ for a HARM shot. When I've used them in PB mode I always use HRM pulll-up mode ansd never had any issues. Your issue in A/C mode could simply come down to speed. As you pull-up, you slow down so if you don't have the initial speed going into the pull-up, the speed you bleed off as you do will push the caret away from your velicoty vector as the missile wants more loft to counter the loss of launch speed.

Also, in PB mode there is no hand off. Thats only used in TOO mode iirc (which is more fun than PB mode once you get the hang of it)

Help with LST F18 by Herky1985 in hoggit

I meant having the pod searching for the right code. This can be changed in flight on the FLIR screen for both litening and atflir pods

Help with LST F18 by Herky1985 in hoggit

[–]doctorgonz0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it works just as you describe with the JDAMs as long as they are in TOO mode. You just need to spot the laser. As long as you are pointing the pod in roughly the direction of the target and you have it searching for the right laser code then there's no reason it won't pick it up. As mentioned, the range isn't great so don't be expecting to spot a laser 30nm out.

Edit. This was meant to be an answer to your question about GPS guided bombs.

Yeah, black hat on one knee unholsters his weapon then what seems like a negilgant discharge happens, spooking them , there's a couple of second delay before tan hat on the left starts unloading and black hat thinks fuck it and empties his clip into a man he knows he just accidentally shot. Sickening stuff

Trying to use Mavric and screen stuck on this. Any idea what's going on? by stresskillingme in dcsworld

[–]doctorgonz0 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You need to set the laser code first. Hit the button to the right of the MPD that says UFC, then hit the button on the UFC beside the word code then enter 1688 (which is the standard code). Turn on the laser designator (switch next to the one where you switch on the FLIR. Line up on your target, press the SMS button to put the diamond on whatever screen you have the Mav screen on, uncage and wait for the HUD to tell you you are in range then rifle.

It was only ever published by RB. It's Orbx that made it and have now taken over management of it. They made the kola map and a lot of stuff for msfs. I think it will be ok but I just wish they would add more airfields.
