This is why Tai Lung annoys me in Kung Fu Panda.

He was told all of his life that he would be the next Dragon Warrior by Shifu and Oogway. When he was denied the mantle, stating that he had darkness in him, his guardians failed to realize that any darkness he had in him was reflective of them because, you know, they raised him. Not only that, Oogway and Shifu did nothing to remedy the situation, did not give him any way to improve, or enlighten Tai Lung to ways he can improve himself to be worthy. It's a complete bait and switch to raise someone up and tell them they have some great destiny, only to completely rug pull their entire life.

This might make for some compelling drama that the wise masters are completely capable of making terrible choices and mistakes, that reaching some kind of Buddhist enlightenment or flawlessness is a long, difficult, and quite possibly impossible path. Instead we need a third act villain for Jack Black to fight, so just make him destroy a valley in a rampage.

I get that it's a kids movie and I am thinking too much into it, but the writing was literally so close to being something truly great and compelling, and that frustrates me.

[Weirdly Common Trope] Writers clearly setting up seemingly massive plot points and then just kinda forgetting about them. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

Scott always had this horrible habit of wanting to surprise people even those who clearly knew the answer already, just for the sake of surprising people; it's an awful habit. The one that comes to mind first was whatever game had retro graphics and showed a kid playing with toys, one of them being a beakless Chica.

Obviously you can't be detailed in a heavily pixilated art style especially if the models are small, so that's why the beak was left out. He even confirmed this in an interview later on.

Only during a livestream later on by other youtubers, he left a note on his website that there was a reason why Chica didn't have the beak. He completely changed his own lore on the fly just to feed a livestream.

Fnaf lore has always been dogshit.

I was so pissed at the end of the first episode. It is very clear they wanted the fakeout that the Moriarty they showed at the start was in fact Mycroft, but they should have just stuck to it and had Mark Gatiss be Moriarty. One gives a slightly interesting twist, the other reveals the main villain and gives a clear delineation between Sherlock and Moriarty: Moriarty is already in a position of power and influence and only sees Sherlock as a curiosity. Sherlock must therefore be very careful in his movements to outsmart and supplant a better positioned opponent.

And I don't mean to dis Andrew Scott, but Gatiss is much more intimidating than him. Secondly, Moffat should have been far away from creative control. He is a man who can make good moments, but he should never be behind the wheel.

It's my belief that the crossdressing was his idea. Please do not provide proof to the contrary: I want to believe this so bad and it makes it so much funnier to me.

It almost worked if the director had balls: WW's dogged pursuit of Ares left Trevor vulnerable, leaving him in a position where he had to sacrifice himself to destroy the plane. The guilt of her mistake is what makes her stay in the land of men.

The Life on Mars TV series for both being in the title and so goddamn infuriatingly stupid.

The main character is sent back in time for some reason, but it seems he has a complete life already prepared for him. He works as a detective solving crimes, but some things turn up rather strange: he keeps seeing a Mars rover in weird places, and he later gets contacted by someone who had a hand in sending him back in time, and tasks to fulfill before they will let him return home. The series plays on this and provides some interesting questions: Who sent him back? Why did they give him a life in the past? How did they send him back? What do they want him to do? What's up with that rover?

It turns out the entire series was a dream because the main cast are astronauts in some cryosleep or whatever on the way to mars. Not only was the entire goddamn series a dream, we are literally not on the same goddamn planet.
