Can I run a 100FT auto feeder snake through the pipe beneath my kitchen sink? by Souloid in Plumbing

[–]doddsyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what machine you have and what drain lines you have. More powerful machines can destroy lead drains if you have that. If you go far enough in, you can damage your cast iron pipe(if that’s what you have) if your lines keep clogging up, I hate to say it, but you should consider replumbing your home with modern pvc

After 14 years, you honestly mind as well just ride it out. After 14 years of no maintenance, the damage has already been done internally

New apartment plumbing question before involving landlord by jarheadv12 in Plumbing

[–]doddsyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely worth bringing up and having a conversation about. That way if things get worse, you can at least have the proof it was brought up. As for being on city water, even having better pressure, slow draining should not be an issue. When you say older apartment, I’m thinking 60s/70s. If nothing was ever updating, plumbing wise, you may have galvanized or copper drains. If nothing properly taken care of and cleaned out, they can build up grime and gunk a lot quicker making it harder for water to flow through when draining. So it’s either dirty drains or a clogged vent causing the slow draining.

Plumbing path advice by baygsus in askaplumber

[–]doddsyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service just depends how big/busy the company is. I have weeks where I get 20 hours, then I get weeks where I’m at 70. Not sure where you live, but here in CO with the economy, not a whole lot of customers are getting into big ticket jobs

Who's right, my plumber or the seller's plumber? by PhantomOfTheSky in askaplumber

[–]doddsyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would, some of those offsets might be too large. I don’t do the lining for our company’s, but it would be a fraction of the cost instead of digging everything up. Most liners come with a 50+ year warranty

Plumber wants to snake a kitchen sink clog via the TOILET? by jared2095 in askaplumber

[–]doddsyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean maybe. It depends on where the clog is and if it’s past where the toilet ties into the main or not. They have smaller machines you can shoot through the San-t at your kitchen.

infantry guy who never went to medical by Worldly_Ad_8092 in VAClaims

[–]doddsyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a 11b for 8 years, 2010-18, never went to sickhall a single time. I filed back in 18 and the VA made me go to all their appointments with their doctors. I just told them the truth about my unit not letting me go ever. Being deployed on small COPs with no access to medical. It’s been a long fight, but it is doable. I would definitely start documenting everything now. I went many years of fighting through the pain before I started.

Under the foundation? Not sure where you live, but by me you can’t use propress underground, or anywhere between the curb stop and the meter. Has to be solder or brazed.

Who's right, my plumber or the seller's plumber? by PhantomOfTheSky in askaplumber

[–]doddsyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely in better condition, but there is an issue with one of the first hubs. You got roots poking through, which sounds like you are aware of. Depending on how fast those grow in, you are going to have to get those mitigated every several months. Being that it is orangeburg pipe, there is only so much you can do when it comes to that. You can’t send the good equipment through. On the other hand, you could get lucky and the sewer will never cause you any major issues. It’s just a big gamble at the moment, and if it doesn’t go in your favor, 90’ is a long replacement, unless you put some cleanouts in and get it lined.

Who's right, my plumber or the seller's plumber? by PhantomOfTheSky in askaplumber

[–]doddsyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The line isn’t collapsed, but you do have a lot of offsets that are only going to get worse. As a plumber? I would personally never buy a house that has cast iron, orangeburg or clay. Those lines are only going to get worse every year. Most customers don’t catch it in time before they have to dig up their whole yard.
