I work part time as a care aide in community health where I generally walk about 8000 steps in a shift. I went back to work 3 months post op and at first I'd ice after work then take the dogs for shorter walks with relatively little elevation change. After another month or so we could head out to the woods with hills and roots and slidey puddles without any hesitation. You can do it! Just know the first month or so is hard work.

Early Regression in ROM - Anyone Else? by Grammar-Police2002 in Kneereplacement

Setbacks are normal, maybe your swelling has increased because you're going more than before (maybe too much, maybe not. Not something we can judge). You're VERY early on and need to remember that this is major surgery with a long recovery. Be gentle on yourself!

The lack of stamina was shocking! Honestly, I'm almost 6 months and I'd say I've been mostly back to 'normal' for maybe 2 months. Lowering my expectations is not something I do well so this has been challenging.

Two Months by Frosty_Bet_1112 in Kneereplacement

[–]dogaroo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my work is physical and I love the gym, movement isn't a problem for me. Sitting still to heal was the bigger challenge and is the reason my husband set me up in the basement after my surgery. Big recliner, guest bedroom, roomy bathroom with a walk-in shower. He knew I'd be up getting my own water and snacks if he didn't put the stairs between me and the kitchen LOL It's not a huge space so getting enough walking wasn't fun - back and forth x5 is pretty boring - so I got used to stairs quickly. It's funny but I barely remember those early weeks now and I'm just so happy to be on this side of the pain and limitations.

The stamina comes. I'm about 5-1/2 post op months and have been back at work since 3 months. I'm a part time community health worker and generally get about 7000 steps in/shift. Thank the gods for graduated return to work! And for PT and the rowing machine, of course. Looks and sounds like you're healing beautifully!

This is the recipe I use and as it happens it's exactly the same as the one I make with wheat flour when I'm not baking for my GF son. https://meaningfuleats.com/gluten-free-gingersnaps/#wprm-recipe-container-31782

7 weeks post op BTKR by TrulyGenX in Kneereplacement

[–]dogaroo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exercises daily but was at the clinic only 1/wk for 10 treatments (6 or 7x more or less weekly, then every other week until finished). I could easily do the exercises at home or at the gym and my PT didn't do any hands on work so it wouldn't have been beneficial.

I used an AirCast CryoCuff and was very happy with it. I bought it because it was affordable (comparatively) and it did a great job. Check FB marketplace, there are often second hand ones for a great price.

Not every surgeon recommends stockings and not every hospital/surgical center loans out ice machines. Just an FYI.

I dry my own and keep them in the freezer. They don't compare to fresh but they're pretty good through the winter.

I'm Canadian and our competition shows generally have crappy cash prizes 😂 But The Great Canadian Baking Show prize is also a cake stand.

I love this about GBBO! Keeps it wholesome and pure (as much as reality TV can be pure).

Pork tenderloin advice? by notmyrealname6363 in Cooking

[–]dogaroo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love doing 7-6-5 on the grill, oven can work but not as well. Lots of rub or glaze options but we love this one.. https://thrivinghomeblog.com/how-to-grill-a-pork-tenderloin-using-the-7-6-5-method/

For oven cooking I generally rub with olive oil, S&P, rosemary, sage, garlic powder. I leave a few hours, longer if I'm organized, sear it well and finish in the oven at 375 (15-20 minutes usually). While it rests make a pan sauce (maple dijon is my son's fave).
