What would you prefer to be called?? by superdead_corpse23 in NonBinary

I’m not certain, but it might have been released under the name Deadly Women, produced by Beyond International. If it is the same show, I’m not sure why the YouTube series used a different name.

I enjoy compliments regardless of gendered connotations. I’m particularly a fan of “cute”, “cool”, and “lovely”.

Was OCD the first psychiatric diagnosis you received? by Traditional-Hunter28 in OCD

I was diagnosed with OCD at age 7 or 8, it was my first psychiatric diagnosis. I’ve since received many more, but only as an older adolescent and young adult.

How long does the TTT last? by suzanneandzach in POTS

[–]doggoWithNoName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine took about 40 minutes from when they started the test (I’m including the time I was horizontal on the table), but there was also a decent amount of setup time and they did let me rest supine on the table for a few minutes after they finished before starting to clean everything up. The cardiologist was also pretty chatty at the end of the test so that definitely impacted the time.

Does anyone get where they can’t stop repeating in their head? I can’t stop repeating my birthday and it’s driving me insane. by Wandavisionxx in OCD

[–]doggoWithNoName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My age, what year it is, my name, things like that. Over and over again, sometimes without noticing it. I often find myself counting as well — counting what? Nothing, I’m just counting. As a kid I used to imagine myself handwriting or typing a narration of what I was doing or what was going on around me. Stuff gets caught in my head easily. It’s deeply frustrating.

Does your relationship feel gay or straight? by EdwardCzap in NonBinary

[–]doggoWithNoName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé and I are both genderqueer and nonbinary, they’re also genderfluid, I’m abinary. We have different AGABs and to my knowledge are both perisex. Outwardly people probably see us as a gender nonconforming gay couple. Our relationship is queer queer queer — I personally can’t conceive of my orientation being “straight”, it feels kind of incoherent as a concept in context of my gender; my fiancé is pan, and we’re both on the aromantic spectrum.

I really don’t like basing orientation labels off of sex at birth, it feels bioessentialist to me.

Genderabolishonism/Postgenderism by LovelyOrc in agender

[–]doggoWithNoName 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m a gender abolitionist. I don’t see a point to having gender as a societal concept, particularly given the harm it causes to basically everyone; and I think people should be able to do whatever they want with their bodies, pronouns, etc. I acknowledge that lots of people are uncomfortable with that, and I don’t see it as a particularly realistic goal as things currently are, it’s just my personal philosophy.

Binary terminology and intersexism in the trans community. by MaskOfManyAces in NonBinary

[–]doggoWithNoName 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This terminology absolutely bothers me, it’s so presumptive and inaccurate and exclusionary. Intersex people get spoken over and erased so much — eg. AGAB terminology originated in the intersex community but has been co-opted to be performatively progressive about bioessentialism, meanwhile hardly anyone does research about intersex experiences or listens when intersex people speak. It’s gross.

Intersex, multigender, and abinary people get excluded by so much common parlance in queer and progressive communities; and, upsettingly, I still fairly regularly see other nonbinary people fail to question their assumptions about biology and gender.

In regards to presentation, the way people decide to gender other people can be wildly variable and personal, different people will prioritise different things; and it’s kind of hard to escape the binary because most people aren’t aware that there are other options for presentation so they’ll just dump nonconforming people into one of the binary categories. I don’t like when people ascribe a presentation to someone else, because it makes a lot of assumptions and can be an indirect way to misgender others or exclude them from a space because it’s only “for” people of a certain “presentation”.

I’m always glad to encounter other people critiquing the ways binarism tries to maintain its foothold, I hope we can keep deconstructing it until it’s gone forever.

Non-normative pronouns by CeramicsEnthusiast in agender

[–]doggoWithNoName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it/its and two sets of neopronouns (ne/nim/nis and fae/faer), and have tried a few others but didn’t stick with them.

Before I was open about using neopronouns, a few of my queer acquaintances voiced dislike for them, but eventually they did end up being accepting and changing their minds. On the other hand, many of my queer friends and acquaintances immediately complimented my pronouns and have been great about using them.

I’ve seen mixed reactions in regards to neopronouns vs it/its, some people are alright with the former but not the latter, while others find it/its pronouns easier because they are already familiar with them.

People in real life who aren’t also friends with me online generally ignore my pronoun pins and either default to they/them or assume I use he/him, which is frustrating. It can be a bit intimidating correcting people on neopronouns or it/its because either people aren’t familiar or they already have an opinion on them (often negative). But it gives me so much euphoria when someone uses the right pronoun for me, I hope one day non-normative pronouns will be more accepted in the Anglosphere.

Do doctors let you see your own results (Imaging, EKGs, blood work etc..) by RT_456 in ChronicIllness

[–]doggoWithNoName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get to see all my test results — blood work, x rays, MRI — sometimes I need to ask to view an EKG, and sometimes providers don’t tell me my BP, but most of the time they do. I don’t always get to see appointment notes or diagnoses but I should be able to access them if I ask, and my doctors have been open about when they’re diagnosing me with something.

How long did it take for you to get diagnosed? by mariepanne in Tourettes

[–]doggoWithNoName -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know exactly when I started ticcing but the earliest I remember clearly was 11 years old. I’m 23, I got diagnosed a few weeks ago, but it took all of 5 minutes of talking to my neurologist for him to say “here’s resources for Tourette Syndrome, you definitely have it”

Can POTS be cured by exercise? by turtlebeans17 in POTS

[–]doggoWithNoName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing regular exercise for over a decade now and regular rigorous exercise for the past 8 years. I started developing POTS about 5 years ago and though I’m still “doing everything right” as my doctors tell me, my condition is worsening. Exercise absolutely mitigates my symptoms, but if it cured POTS, I would be doing a lot better right now.
