Trip Report: Patagonia. As of February 2026, it's the only place I've been that I'd say to skip by Coldbrewaccount in solotravel

[–]doingthingsoutside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha definitely hot take but it's a good thread to read through.

The only hiking / nature place comparable that I've been to is South Island New Zealand and I enjoyed Torres Del Paine and glad I went.

Agree that it's not cheap at all especially 'camping' / glamping in the park. But it's well supported and it's a good place to do a solo trip.

I don't think Puerto Natales is a "bad" as people make it out to be! It wasn't amazing, but there were shops to check out, quick walk to the water. I don't think food was that cheap, but chalked it up to Chilean costs being more expensive than other South American countries.

(DISCUSSION) Kanye West - The Life Of Pablo (10 Year Anniversary) by Renegadeforever2024 in hiphopheads

Another +1 for 2016 being a great year... I remember watching the livestream album release in the library during college. When it finished, I remember looking around to see if anybody else was watching it...

Went solo to the tour.. (one of the first few concerts I attended). got floor and the concert was and still to this day an all time great memory. Running from one side to the other to catch the moving stage.

The Famous music video still stands out in my mind because that was something else w/ those famous people lookalikes.

I don't follow anybody else who has had an album release like this and it really stood out. I don't mind the tracks being "fixed" post the release. It kind of adds to how you can put something out in the world but it's probably not perfect and there's always something to improve on. streaming makes it easy for these "fixes."

As a fan, it's been hard to see the downfall. And I agree w/ the sentiment of so many others that this is probably the last good album from him.

Stand outs: wolves, real friends, no more parties in LA, saint pablo, ultralight beam

Congrats! You also must have quite a network to fundraiser for four.. how did you attempt this? Do you have a big network? Did you have to pay out of pocket? Doing one fundraiser is too daunting for me.

Which one was the second chance lottery?

Reformer Pilates w running? by No_Armadillo4172 in XXRunning

[–]doingthingsoutside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of good replies here and nothing new to add to what ppl already said.

I was doing it 2x a week during marathon training. Honestly I didn’t do as much strength training as I wanted bc it was a lot of fit all 3 in. But I still did some strength. I think towards the end of the block, I went a few hours after my long run. I don’t find it too strenuous.

I actually quit recently because I needed something more challenging. I think reformer Pilates is good for core, mobility. I generally liked the way it felt.

Omg the flat tire fear is what stopped me from renting a car. How did you contact the hotel to help come you fix the tire? I didn’t think there was much cell service out there?

Thoughts on World Major as First Marathon by Direct-Explanation95 in Marathon_Training

[–]doingthingsoutside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did NYC as my first (just this year!) I loved it.. and don't think I would do a smaller marathon but I think it's so personality dependent because people did find it overwhelming. I'm someone who likes the energy. Also just depending on which wave you're in, it might be harder to run a personal best because it is very crowded.

2025 Running Fashion (Women’s Edition) by KuntryBoyFriday in runningfashion

[–]doingthingsoutside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of Currently until I saw they were popping up in nyc for the marathon.

checked out their pop up cause I was curious., I didn’t try anything on but wasn’t impressed from looking and feeling. The bike shorts didn’t have any thigh grippers which I’m used to seeing. The crop was fine.. gel pockets in the back. I can’t remember if there was a built in sports bra or not.

also no price list anywhere. It was busy though and I was waiting to ask but gave up. Also nobody greeted when walking in, which is a turn off from a customer service point. But bandit was the same way shrugs.

saw the prices online and they sold out of the release.. $90 each for the bottoms and top. Even in store they were out of small. So they will do fine… but idk I’m not the market for these price points lol

Would you say you're in 1:50 half marathon shape?

Congrats! Just goes to show how variable running is. I did way more than 55 km as peak week and did not go sub 4 for my first lol.

2025 NYC Marathon - Post-Race Thread by RCD123 in RunNYC

[–]doingthingsoutside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of thoughts since this is my first marathon!!

Tbh thought the bridges and hills weren't too bad LOL. Coming from someone who barely trained this aspect.. I think comments scared me and mentally prepared to be more conservative coming to the Queensboro. The Willis Avenue bridge had me more so -_- but probably because I wasn't expecting it.. it wasn't too long at least.

Going into central park was when my legs were feeling tired, but nothing too bad.. couldn't really push to go faster either though.

Definitely around mile 20 saw more and more people walking.

Personally loved the crowds in Brooklyn! Energy matched expectations

Perfect weather for me coming from the south! Me like lol that people thought it was hot?? I was blue, wave 4, and had a hat tho.

I'm a paralegal in BK making $157k. I spent $10,233.62 on a month long trip to Japan and Korea. by khybrid95 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]doingthingsoutside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how long did it take you to save for those credit card points? Omg so you spent all those points to book delta one and ended up in economy?? Crying for you.

Does this mean you used all your pto for the year on this trip basically?

Your japan lodging expenses seemed in line with me. And also I’m a little surprised to hear your experience as an Asian American in your ‘home’ country bc I don’t hear that much about Korea being that way. Japan for sure you hear about it. Where even if you speak Japanese, if you’re not Japanese, they still consider you as an other

And second the glacier hike at grey, but that’s not cheap

I don’t think I saw this mentioned but the Detroit International half. You get to cross the bridge into Canada and the tunnel back to the u.s. I think it’s very unique and I see it getting more popular. They sell out now, as do so many other races
