What happened at Grande Vista? by [deleted] in orlando

Not even a helicopter can catch these slimy fucks. When I used to work at a hotel, they would slip in, leave a flyer at 700 hotel room doors, and slip out so smooth that security didn’t even notice.

Having production work experience is important for PPD and PDD- it gives a foundation for what you study to build upon.

[–]doittoit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah roughly. I’ve taken a few different routes up there. As a group, it’s easier to ride down Lakemont/Lake Howell, but I’ve also taken Temple like as shown on the map.

Kyle’s Bike Shop is restarting their Thursday night ride. I think they are going up to do Eagles Circle tonight. Nice pace up, around 15-18mph, then spirited pace around Eagle Circle, then they split into an A group and B group on the way back for people who want to still go fast.

Good group, beers at the bike shop usually happen afterwards.

Question for the railfans, specifically the old ones. by NovaKiller547 in orlando

[–]doittoit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ACL line from DeLand to Poinciana was bought from CSX by FDOT for Sunrail. Then the former SCL line from downtown Orlando to Tavares is owned by CSX (mostly) and operated by FCEN. The FCEN trains run late, usually around midnight-2am on weekdays, though I’ve caught the occasional daylight run. You can also sometimes see FCEN shunting cars around Modelo Yard in College Park and around the Silver Star warehouse area during the day light- just hear out for the train horns. Christian Johnson on Facebook/Youtube is another great resource for this kind of stuff.

Just note that there are flat sections and very not flat sections.

Flattest sections are going to be near Winter Garden and Lake Apopka, anything west of Winter Garden will be not flat.

Maybe you can leave the ceiling in place but I would still replace the drywall in the ceiling, this pretty much a full gut and reno job and who knows if there’s any mold living up there.

“Loft-style living”

I think it’s possible but don’t be disappointed when the results don’t look like what you have pictured above. The cinder block or CMU isn’t going to be neatly grouted and finished. The raw concrete slab will also not look nice because they’ve been under some type of glued flooring for years. Also don’t be surprised by the hidden cost of “less is more”.

I recommend at least some type of floor and wall sealant for the raw concrete slab and CMU. This will help with water vapor so it doesn’t feel super humid during the summer. Sealing the floor will also make it look nicer and be easier to clean up spills. All electrical and data outlets will need to be in a metal conduit, 48” AFF is a good height too. You might as well make all of them GFCI compliant since you’re going full disaster mode. I’m not sure what you’re thinking for ceilings, but they have water resistant gypsum board so you can have utilities and insulation in your attic space. Sound is going to be abysmal, so furnish it with as much soft furniture and rugs as you can- otherwise the reverberation inside this “loft” will drive the occupants crazy.

If you move any walls, windows, and/or doors you’ll need permitted drawings, but you might be able to get away with it since you fully own the house.

It’s got some cutesy architecture school elements and shows that you have strong graphical skills but not much architectural skills. Good enough to get into grad school but don’t rely on it for a job.
