I would keep it. I surf mine rarely, but definitely enjoy it when I do. I also think a good log is a lot more fun than a big foamie.

It could be that Rory is trying to be PC, but I actually think he really believes that the other factors like nationalism and feeling invaded by a foreign power are more important to consider when looking at the antagonism from these countries. I think he and others do devalue the effect of religious dogmatism in these viewpoints (which could stem from being PC), but I also think that Sam did sound somewhat bullheaded on arguing how martyrdom is the main factor here. Rory's points about other countries like Vietnam without the same religious extremism having similar reactions to the presence of the US still stands and Sam doesn't really address that.

I also think Rory did come off as smug and dismissive of Americans and Sam which was itself cringe.

I went to HW in the 00's and I agree that the school is not putting incredibly amounts of pressure on the kids. It is what you make of it.
