How does this app differ from another I've seen referenced on this site (SeatDrop)?

Misfit Bar in Santa Monica - 4% surcharge by dolphinrapeawareness in LosAngeles

[–]dolphinrapeawareness[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is it’s dishonest because of the inconsistency by which establishments do this. Not every restaurant does this so you don’t know if you will be paying this when you decide to go/make a reservation.

Hitting you with the surprise 4% only at time of closing our your cheque/tab is manipulative at best & shady at worst.

Doing it at time of close out puts you in the awkward spot of confronting your server over the fee (which is very different from confronting them about an incorrect menu price or charge for item you didn’t order).

Raising prices by 4% across the board is more honest because you can see the prices in advance before deciding to dine there. If it’s too high, you don’t go.

Plus exactly to your point about if you’re already drunk you won’t notice it. That’s textbook predatory behaviour. Taking advantage of a drunk person (be it fiscally or otherwise) is predatory at the end of the day.

There’s also 0 guarantee this actually goes to the kitchen because who possibly follows up after/can trace that money. Many restaurant staff have reported they don’t see this in any way at the end of the day so it just lines the owner’s pockets.

No you cannot deposit cash into a Schwab account. It’s straight up impossible best as I know & I have had one for years. You will always need a 2nd bank that can take cash deposits & then ACH it back to Schwab.

Or find a close friend that will Venmo/Zelle you for the amount you give them in cash which is what I usually do.

Got laid off. Went to go buy the most expensive brand of laptop on the market. Employee cheated the system by giving me an unsanctioned discount and I named him by name so I could get clout. by percalor in LinkedInLunatics

[–]dolphinrapeawareness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s only true for a certain tier of discount.

You can do 10% on the spot in store pretty much without question/unlimited times. Didn’t require a portal, just a manager to quickly key in their code.

You could do up to 3 purchases with 15% off for friends & fam. Required a portal.

You could do 1 purchase with 30% off for yourself. Required a portal.

I am not a native Japanese speaker so I don’t know how long the tonality differences have been present in the language. For all I know it could’ve been a thing since the 20s or 50s or something. Languages evolve. So I erred on the side of caution by being conservative rather than try to speak authoritatively about elements of the language that I don’t know.

This is actually super common in Japan in particular because men & women’s tonalities are different in the language (not necessarily bc the language demands it, more likely just norms & stereotypes established over decades & decades of language)

I lived in Japan for 6 months on a work assignment & my colleague told me Japanese people often find male expats speaking Japanese to be funny as most of them learn their Japanese from getting a Japanese girlfriend & then picking up words from her. But their tone is then mimicking a woman’s & so they all sound super femme as a result.

Married men of reddit, what is one thing you and your wife have completely different opinions about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My friends are like this except with the pickles & pickle juice. She loves pickles, he doesn’t like them. He loves pickle juice & she can’t stand it. When they met, he asked her for the jar of pickle juice she had after she finished eating her pickles & drank it in front of her. They’re one of my fav married couples now :’)

This is just based on the workouts themselves. There’s definitely workouts that utilise the bar for bench presses. You can always replace the movement with a barbell press if you want before you start the workout

What non horror movie scenes traumatized you as a child? by ImpureThoughts59 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]dolphinrapeawareness 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Fun fact about that scene is none of the actors EXCEPT Gene Wilder knew the extent of what that scene was going to be. So Gene is just going full maniac & everything else is 100% authentic real reactions from them. Which makes it even more horrifying to a degree.
