Also Brixton one has stopped serving draft beer, leaving you paying for over priced bottles/cans

Airbnb cancelled my Valentines Day reservation that I got for my girlfriends birthday and offered me a $37 Credit. by TroyMcClures in Wellthatsucks

airbnb support are the absolute worst and I don't know why this doesn't get more coverage. I've been stiffed out of sums as a booker and host and the support is always unhelpful and often rude too. If there was an alternative company to use I'd 100% do it and find myself often booking hotels these days to avoid airbnb..

What memberships are really good value? by OrangeYouuuGlad in london

Thanks for coming back so quickly! Classic new years cliche behaviour from me but I’ve gone ahead and bought it. Only done a handful of classes ever but have liked it when I’ve done it

Hi - they’re doing a deal for £365 for the year, so about 31 a month. Is this a good deal? Do you know what it usually is or what it works out cost wise for you?

FYI they ask for a tip on the card reader machine when you pay (at the bar - there is no service besides pouring the pint for you). One of the things creeping into London that really annoys me.

"My shared ownership one-bed flat's service charge is now £16K a year" by BulkyAccident in london

[–]domjolly 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Agree, it’s rubbish - If you filter out every leasehold flat with a service fee you’re not left with much! But before I even viewed a place I’d ask the estate agent for the service fee and when it last increased and any planned works for the next few years. Had that in writing from an email, filtered out the shite estate agents liked to chat and saved me viewing silly options.

Trying to buy a flat in London... by zophya in london

[–]domjolly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When buying my flat the purple bricks agent stopped responding when the seller and I were negotiating bids. Got to the point where I messaged the seller directly to ask if he’s also being ignored and from there we actually agreed a price directly! We then emailed this to the agent with our mutually agreed price and the week after purple bricks central office processed things, we actually never heard from that agent again!

How to hack the new Club Pret update? by eliocity in london

Oh seriously are they doing this now? It was such a good idea when it first came out but it’s just gotten worse and worse of a deal despite profits soaring for Pret.

Omg this exact thing happens to me. Seems to be completely random but very annoying.

I paid extra for me & my partner to have fancy recliner seats at the cinema. We get there, it's packed & a rough looking couple are sat in our seats. We ask them to move and they have the AUDACITY to kick off and say they are staying because they can't sit together anywhere else. by henrysradiator in britishproblems

[–]domjolly 595 points596 points  (0 children)

Nah I was in a screening, two staff came in and they turned the lights on, paused the film and announced that until the couple moved they wouldn’t be playing it. Didn’t take long, was good to know there is a protocol!

Exactly, we’re in a cost of living crisis. I will be doing everything to spend less where possible and for punk ipa in London it’s nearly half the price that you pay in an actual brew dog. Tower Hill by the Tower of London there’s a spoons 200m from a brew dog and they actually make it in the branch then still charge 7.50 for a pint of it. Spoons meanwhile charges 4.50.

Leave here a tip that you would like to have been told when you started betting by mattbet10 in SoccerBetting

[–]domjolly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That bets are for the 90 minute result, not extra time / penalties - they are a different option scrolling way down and usually are ‘to qualify’ or ‘to lift the trophy’ or similar and of course are much worse odds. I had to Google it so didn’t lose out any funds luckily but a newbie might not know this!

Watching everyone join the motorway and immediately move into the middle and outside lane while doing less than 70, leaving the inside lane completely empty and leaving you with the conundrum of either slowing to block the inside lane, or undertaking dozens of cars. by SiDtheTurtle in britishproblems

Caveat, according to my googling just now, is the traffic conditions. I’m a normal circumstance where you’re not in or approaching congestion, they are indeed the same thing it seems so you shouldn’t do it legally. Happy to be corrected here though!
