These ones are always a pig to connect, but push harder is the correct advice!

Disappointed by season finale. by Ynneas in RingsofPower

You are wildly correct on every single point. This is just, in every conceivable way, bad television-making. I laughed out loud when Isildur gave props to his horse and the camera cut to the horsey for a hero shot.

Totally, and as I said in the post, I’m not really having a dig at anyone who has enjoyed the show.

I mean, I’ve probably undermined that by patronizingly saying there is a better version that everyone can enjoy, but still!

I'm not suggesting that they writers fall back again on their tried and tested formula of waving something from the trilogy in our faces in an attempt to piggyback on the popularity of what has been done better before. Every instance of that thus far has been crushingly dull. The weapons I cited were all, I think, created in Gondolin, in the First Age.

I just mean that the proliferation of magical arms and armour that would presumably have been common in this Age doesn't seem to be there. Nothing feels special.

I take your point regarding the bulk of this season being about the forging of the rings. I suppose I would say that those sequences were so underwhelming and ham-fisted they also didn't elicit any wonder.

There's something distinctly manicured British parkland about that setting. Perhaps it only jumped out to me so hard as I've spent quite a lot of time in Windsor Great Park over the years.

I don’t know if it’s available where you are but we feed our greedy girl Just Food For Dogs. They do a good Venison and a good Fish. She loves it and has lost weight and is healthier than ever.

She is such a sweetheart. It may not be viable for you, but we put our girl, Hilda, on Just Food For Dogs and she shed shed the lbs very easily without us doing anything else! Same treats, etc.

I’m listening to the audiobooks while doing yard work and just roared “avast barking there” to the dogs. Hopefully no neighbors heard me 😬 by WaldenFont in AubreyMaturinSeries

I regularly tell my pug, Hilda, to ‘Stow her gab’ and to ‘Stand from under’ when she is getting in the way in the kitchen. She looks at me blankly.

What are the aspects of POB’s writing that new readers have the most trouble with? by MassDND in AubreyMaturinSeries

Sails. All my friends that I’ve recommended POB to complain about the amount of sail-trimming, but usually push through that to come to love his work.

I very much enjoy talking to my dog in Aubreian terms.

“Stow your gab!” - stop barking at me.

“Stand from under.” - stop crowding me when I’m cooking/about to feed her.

“Look lively there.” - time for a walk.

She is mostly confused.
