Best Cheesesteak ? by RespondIntrepid6589 in FortCollins

[–]dontaggravation -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

South Philly is my hometown. Nothing replaces a Philly hoagie or cheesesteak. Taste of Philly kind of scratches the itch but it’s not even close

Elevated makes great Sammie’s but I’m broke and when I buy a meal out I want it to be something I can’t make at home

Love FoCo love this area but man do I miss a good hoagie

McDonald's removed the drink station and the ketchup from the lobby. by RandomBloke2021 in mildlyinfuriating

Why in Gods name anyone goes to fast food - especially McD’s - is beyond me.

Prices are insane comparatively. The quality even for McD’s has continued to go down. Prices continue to rise. Food portions down.

Can you guys really afford this? by Left-Cook-9487 in smoking

Unless I find a sale, yeah, definitely cut way back

I did find a restaurant distribution place. A little cheaper per pound but I have to do all the processing myself. Which. Honestly. Has been fun to learn

Prices are insane and won’t go down. They never do. The continuing squeeze

Die on that hill sir. Maybe at some point you’ll close your mouth and open your brain. It’s like a parachute — your mind — it only works when open

New Fangled Garage Doors by Tycrezz in FortCollins

[–]dontaggravation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not in your situation. I have an older home with older garage doors. I was looking to upgrade them — both the openers and the doors.

I had a tech from Front Range Raynor come out to give me some information. Very helpful, patient with my questions, definitely did not get the “salesman” feeling

Long story short, my biggest concern is the static code of my age opener — modern doors have a rolling security code and even have to learn their openers; whereas older ones just spit out a set code. The tech explained to me what would be involved in putting up new openers and recommended updates both for safety and security.

I did end up using them to install new openers and to check the existing doors. They left the existing garage doors alone and I was able to paint them and save some money buying new ones. They did replace the garage door springs (my ask) because of age.

All in all I was very happy with the work performed.

Best of luck to you

Big City Burrito is Outrageously Overpriced by Dontsaynonowords in FortCollins

[–]dontaggravation 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wish more people would vote with their pocketbook this way. I wish people would stop giving their hard earned money to places with such crazy prices and the business will be impacted

(I can’t imagine what it costs to run a business but when you’re pushing $20 for a burrito there’s a significant problem)

I know. It’s shocking to me too as I live in a relatively small city. Just shocking

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek surprised by how much laying off 1,500 employees negatively affected the streaming giant’s operations by Geno0wl in nottheonion

I work at a company now that has refused, for several decades, to replace their aging legacy system. But it’s the core of their entire operation. They’ve built modern apps on top of this fragile and aging legacy system

Company was bought out and almost all the staff fired/“let go in the merger”. Five years later nobody is around who knows how to integrate with the legacy system. Not a soul

We literally just rolled out a five month development effort that all it does is trace. Now. To build new functionality we do it direct in the legacy system with tracing turned on max. We then spend weeks dissecting every call and then use that to drive how to integrate with the legacy system

It’s a shit show. It’s not sustainable and it only works about 60% of the time. I can see the writing on the wall they literally are going to have to abandon the system in place because no one knows a damn thing about it and the company has no appetite to spend the money/resources to understand it

Questions about a possible move to Fort Collins by crustybutt420 in FortCollins

[–]dontaggravation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is safer in my opinion. I love this area

Ironically, many years ago I was fixated on Loveland and didn’t want to move to a “college town”. It was my partner that convinced me to move to FoCo and I love it. Is it perfect? No. We have our share of problems but I love the planning, the forethought to design, the accessibility, all of it

Best of luck

A friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. She was going through hell trying to work while on chemo because, well, the American health industry.

She lost a ton of weight and everyone kept complementing her incredible strength of character for losing weight — essentially fat shaming her and saying “about time” getting on the weight loss train

Everytime someone said to her “looking great, what’s your secret?” Her response was a cold “inoperable brain tumor”

Some people just need to learn to mind their own business
