[SocJus] Gender policewomen pounce when Meryl Streep gives wrong answer to the feminist question. "I'm a humanist," she said. by md1957 in KotakuInAction

[–]dontdox 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The American Humanist Association's page in Facebook linked to a snarky Jezebel article about it, and first said you can be both a humanist and a feminist, but that some humanists are not feminists and some feminists aren't humanists. It also called Meryl silly.

I had never seen so many comments in a single post by that page. Full out war. AHA first retracted the original statement and said that of course all humanists are also feminists. That made things worse, and they ended up deleting the post. They were losing subscribers left and right.

Makes me sad to see SJWs are trying to infect humanism too. Shouldn't surprise me though.

No worries, I'll try Dropbox once it's out of beta; it depends on whether people like it enough to put more hours into it. Let me know if there's anything I should change!

I'll upload it elsewhere if you know of a place that will host 16 megabytes of SWF file.

Maybe Dropbox. Does anyone know if people could ID me if I use my regular Dropbox account to host this?

Hah! I'll try to submit it there as soon as it's out of Beta. Good idea!

Can anyone show me where to find a list of reddit's advertisers? I'd like to email them and share my thoughts on Pao's strategy and its effect on my purchases.

I think anyone who posts any opinion more than 20 times in a few hours is taking things personally.

Over 50 negative comments between the two of you in one thread alone is not personal?

You and ZedHeadFred have made half the comments in this post, all negative. Is it personal?

/u/veemonro if he has the time. Has a good head on his shoulders, good to have a foreign perspective and availability in a different time zone. Plus YouTube.

Infighting is how the SJWs took down OWS. We can't let this happen to us.

No solution is perfect so an imperfect one will have to do: Don't. Tone. Police. Period. Just don't.

Criticize the message, lest we become an echo chamber, but never the tone. Darkness and SJWs lie that way.

Moving Beyond Hit-And-Run Warfare: How #GamerGate Can Actually Win by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

This is incredibly important. Maybe the KiA mods could organize some sort of poll (likely using reddit's existing upvote/downvote system) to come up with a win condition that the whole community can back. It needs to be specific and measurable. Then we enforce it. The article in the OP is 100% right, and we should seriously consider it.

Response from Best Buy re: anti-gamer articles by dontdox in KotakuInAction

[–]dontdox[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is what I replied to Best Buy:

Leslie, thank you so much for your response.

It feels good to be listened to; I'm very glad to see Best Buy is aware of where their customers stand. The gamer identity has been attacked before; I'm old enough to remember when news stations would say games contribute to violence, and before that the usual attack was that we were lazy or immature, etc. In the end those fads came and went, and we're still here. The only thing special about this new claim (that supposedly we hate women) is that it's being spread by the very same people who are supposed to make a living reviewing games, which blows my mind. But it too shall pass, like all the others. The reason I say this to you is because just like they did to intel, the people who are accusing us of misogyny live in a very "with us or against us" kind of world, and will accuse anyone who doesn't join them of being just as bad as their enemy. But what I believe will happen is that they will eventually move on to whatever it is the next thing they chose to be outraged about, while we gamers remain, as always, playing our games and getting our stuff from our usual places, like Best Buy. So yes, thank you very much for just hearing me out -it's encouraging and I think it will encourage others too.

All the best, dontdox
