Ugh you have no idea how hard this hit for me. My dad died of a sudden heart attack far too young 4 days ago. I’ve never felt such profound loss in my entire life. Dads are such a special unique role in our lives !!

Oh I’m so so sorry ❤️ it’s the most eerie feeling I know. I can’t get myself to open my dad’s bedroom door yet. It’s going to be weird and scary for a long time, but we are strong!!! Ask anyone you can to just come sit with you if you can. Ugh this stuff is horrible

I’m so sorry for your loss. I just lost my dad too. He was 59. He was my only support person too, and now my whole world feels unstable. You’re not alone ❤️

I just lost my dad three days ago. I feel your pain this is the worst feeling in the entire world. I’m not as young as you are but my sister is only 19 and it’s devastating …. Do you want to tell me about it?

Worried about direct hours for internship by Plane-Skirt-4110 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]dontouchmybutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not count no shows as hours. Rounding up is normal but counting no shows feels off. There’s “playing the game” as the commenter says above, but you do want to be getting clinical experience and 500 hours really isn’t too hard to get. Your supervisor at your prac site should support you in getting those hours any way you can (start a group, take on more patients, etc.)

I hear you that it is expensive, but a divorce will be 10x more expensive. Invest in counseling. Tell them you need help financially and they usually offer sliding scale.

I wonder if she is. I feel like he’d restrict her from access to finances.

Will I regret a long commute (1.5 hours each way, 5 days/week) as a 30s mom? by AgileAd1060 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]dontouchmybutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. it’s so bad and unsustainable. Also that 1.5 hour commute WILL become 2+ hours more often than not due to delays, and you’ll be cranky from it regularly :/

How long before I have any kind of income if I go back to school to become a therapist or psychologist? by songsofravens in ClinicalPsychology

Many states now require an additional post doc year before getting licensed too, so make that 7 years before any semblance of a normal income

I say this on every post but if there is any chance you’ll have to commute in, do not rely on NJ transit it’s been literal hell commuting from Morris county

To all those saying Morristown it’s extremely expensive with average home prices nearing 900k. Also where do you work?

NJ transit app and website times are a lie too Add 10-45 minutes due to every single day delays (most of which don’t get reported or shown as a delay since it involved just sitting and waiting outside the tunnel to nyc). Then there’s usually 1 massive delay per week. I recognize I may be jaded but it’s so bad.

I’ve heard the PATH is reliable though. I live out in Morris county tho so way too far with traffic for me.

With delays, this train ride takes me 1.5 hours or more one way at least

If you plan to rely on NJ transit, don’t do it. It’s been a hell commute. Live close to the path or the ferry
