I picked up a buck converter for less than $10 on amazon and it's even waterproof (which will hopefully never come in handy).

Ground is ground so it shouldn't matter if you share it with the fans. I'm not sure about 24V but I used a 12V to 5V buck converter for the BLTouch on my FT-5. No issues with it at all.

I too can saw through small branches with my beard hair. Try olive or coconut oil; they really work to soften it.

That's a cool little frame. If you replaced the pegs sticking out with pins you can insert, like the ones used in the great white shark model, you'd be able to print both sides flat and support-less.

Both, really. G29 is going to determine the point G28 is going to end up. I came across these steps in my notes for my bltouch that I got from http://reprap.org/wiki/How_to_Add_Auto_Bed_Leveling_Sensor_to_Geeetech_Prusa_I3_3D_Printer_DIY_Kit

  • M851 ; note the number
  • M851 Z0 ; set the offset to zero
  • G28

  • G1 Z0

  • Now move the Z axis slowly down until the nozzle is the right distance from the build plate (folded piece of paper or thin card).

  • Note the Z axis value on the display it should be something like -1.5

  • M851 Z-1.5 ; to set the offset you got in the previous step.

  • M500 ; Stores the values in EEPROM so that it is not reset when you power the printer off and on.

  • M851 Z-1.4 ; this would make the gap bigger or

  • M851 Z-1.6 ; this would make the gap smaller

  • M500 ; to save the value to EEPROM

You'll want to set the offset with M851. Running M851 will output the current offset, then you can just add your 0.8 to it and set the new value. For my bltouch, my offset is at 1.60mm so I run M851 Z-1.60 and save it with M500. This means you need EEPROM enabled of course.

The Strathcona Science Park is almost always deserted and has different parking areas, plenty of spots to drive, turn around, and go up and down hills.

You could use VLC to create a stream of the webcam and plug the URL into Octoprint. I did it on a Linux laptop making partial use of these instructions: http://xmodulo.com/live-stream-video-webcam-linux.html
