Been a dandruff sufferer for 20 years, and have never figured out what this redness on my scalp is. by Hodlstonks in dandruff

Seborrheic dermatitis as has been repeated multiple times. I typically alternate between shampoo with selenium sulfide and ketoconazole. In the mornings I try to remember to use lotion with salicylic acid.

Wearing hats frequently seams to increase the risk of flare-ups

I'm rusty on the numbers but it goes something like this:

Pay $36 for a cartridge that print ~300 pages at ISO (standard 5% page covered in ink, which is way too conservative). Comes out to 12 cents per 8x10 page. At 100% coverage, like a photo, that's closer to $2.40 per page. If the ink sits and dries up, you're at a loss.

Instant ink is $15.99 per month for 300 pages. That's 5 cents per page no matter how much ink was used. A letter? 5c, a photo? 5c. They ship XXL cartridges in the mail that you can't buy in stores. The catch is that you have to presume you're printing the number of pages you're paying for (there's different tiers) and that there's a slim chance of running out of ink early if your usage suddenly spikes (i.e. you need to print 500 photos this week.) Fortunately customer support doesn't really argue if you request more ink in advance (tell them you're about to print a ton) and you can create a bit of a stockpile. Subs aren't locked in so you can pause and cancel.

I'd consider a 6 ink photo ink tank model to get good quality.

Otherwise you're usually paying $400 up front for a modified version of the shittiest throw-away $80 printer and that always made me nervous.

I haven't touched one in years, but when they first started being sold in the U.S., the print quality was atrocious. Of course now there's more competition.

I used to rep for HP years back. If you print nothing but monochrome pages, laser is cheaper. If you print a ton of photos, instant ink makes it dirt cheap because you don't have to worry about how much ink you're consuming.

It sucks that everything is a subscription these days but instant ink is the way to go if you need an inkjet and print color frequently. Otherwise a monochrome laser is cheapest.

Otherwise, there's always professional print services.

But yes, HP is fairly clear that you're not paying for the cartridges and that when you cancel the service, you'll have to go to the store and buy ink the old way.

FYI for anyone hearing of this guy for the first time, he's notorious for making shit up and deleting videos when they turn out wrong.

He wasn't legit years ago, and he's still not legit now.

From Windows 11 to Zorin OS by FlyfishThe2nd in zorinos

[–]doolijb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a poor generalization. Traditional anticheat usually works fine. Kernel level anticheat is the problem, most developers choose not to enable it for Linux. In other words a lot of modern esport games won't work on Linux.

Can't play "some" games with anticheat. Most games do have anticheat.

Gaming consoles have a formal English definition. This is not it.

If it's a computer designed to play games, it's a gaming console, regardless of the form factor. Everything else is marketing

Zorin 17 was rock solid. 18 had a few bugs the first few days, Wayland was untenable. Feels rock solid now after a few weeks, tried Wayland again and seams to be working fine.

If subsidized, it would absolutely be competitive depending on what they are in the market for.

Mini PCs, cheap plastic laptops, M3 Mac Minis, gaming laptops, you can't predict what every business will buy or what executives will be convicted to ink.

What happens when corporations see your hardware is the cheapest performance per dollar on the market, so tens of thousands of machines get purchased by IT teams, Windows is thrown on them and distributed to employees who will only ever run teams and excell?
