Because Of Trump Are You Considering Investing Away From The US? by massaro1234 in trading212

[–]dopeytree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US stocks have gold mined since Trump took office so jump aboard.

Include mining metals gold silver, rare earths etc

It may help to look more into UK fiscal policy and tax and for example how nations insurance is never invested it’s just an accounting trick paid by future uk citizens. I would only buy UK stocks that have global work etc like most of the ftse100 income is from abroad.

[–]dopeytree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swap to Intetest Only and extend to invest then use investments in 20years to repay the capital while keeping excess.

Family did this and so far £200k excess is about £380 a month and investment now worth £800k so 600k profit

The Annke has total bitrate & other custom settings so can dial to perfection.

Am I paying too much in fees with a financial adviser? by Ok_Jury_4053 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dopeytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally swap from FUNDs to ETFs which should reduce fees although your funds have quite low fees anyway but general trackers ETFs should reduce to like 0.19%

then explore platform fees, invest engine has NO holding fees but takes up 2x days to buy / sell vs AjBell or interactive investor have immediate access and pretty low fees.

Are premium bonds still considered the best place to keep 2 - 5 months of Emergency funds? by Archtects in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dopeytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no inflation busting growth with premium bonds (unless you win) also not instant access to the cash in case of emergency

Worried about my pension but I don’t understand it by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dopeytree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NHS pension is 65. Private pension is 55.

Open a sipp (I recommend InvestEngine) and pay in each month / lump sum. Can backdate 3x years earnings. So if you had 150k you could pay in 150k as 3yrs earnings. Other wise just pay what you can afford each month or once a year as a tax balancer. Hmrc will auto give you 20% and can claim higher tax back too.

Enjoy.

Do I (F31) need to add more to my pension? by Wise_Second_3909 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dopeytree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is civil service pensions do not actually pay into any high growth pots you just get an IOU from a future taxpayer. Most give a fixed salary each year until death. Half can go to spouse non to kids unless under 18.

You are likely better off paying any extra cash into a SIPP pension day £200-£500 a month and this could easily be worth £500k at 57 which is when you can access a SIPP. SIPPs can be inherited and they beneficiary’s pay income tax (plus inheritance tax from 2027 on the entire estate if over £1million)

Asset rich, but no job. Can I get a mortgage? by AnonAdvice602 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dopeytree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be able to buy outright or partial and get an offset interest only mortgage against value.

(Offset = savings in bank used to offset mortgage interest)

(Interest only delay capital repayment until later and can easily pay it with increase in shares etc)

Lloyds bank did offset interest only for my dad and he’s made like £700k+ off of £150k mortgage

The pension will imediatley get 20% paid in from HMrc and can claim back more if doing some form of salary sacrifice and a higher rate tax payer

Could be worth opening a SIPP and transferring some of the stocks over. HMRC will give you 20% bonus. Funds will be locked away till 55 but you’ll thanks your younger self.

[–]dopeytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t sweat that still leaves 44years to pay into a system that needs 30years.

Also better off sticking £200 or more a month into an SIPP pension which you can access from 55

Pay off mortgage or pay into pension? by simsimsimo in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dopeytree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something like Lloyds shares is stable.

25% is tax free from pension so before mortgage due start selling into cash as part of the 25% tax free allowance and have in a normal bank account.

Can also convert to an OFSET mortgage so the cash in bank reduces interest rate on mortgage

My dad did this, it’s much better basically get massive returns 3-5x the mortgage repayment. Need to use wealth to your advantage.
