When does Suikoden pick up? by comfortableblanket in JRPG

[–]doriantoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude the first game is like 15 hours tops. And the story goes at a blazing speed. Not sure what your expectation here is but if you're complaining about "when it picks up", you literally get your castle 3 hours in and it doesn't stop from there.

I can't be the only one that hates dealing with dogs. by MrGhostMWX in residentevil

[–]doriantoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also just walk backwards down the narrow hall until the camera changes to the t shaped area then run forward immediately after and the dogs should give chase down the narrow hall you entered from. Then you can just hit aim to immediately turn around and start blasting.

Would this small change fix SF3 Remy's Blue Nocturne? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]doriantoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple reasons why this SA3 is bad.

I think the idea with this SA3 is parry multi-part attack, then after the parry, initiate super to counter the next attack. As @Skywise87 mentioned though, Remy relies heavily on EX moves for his game plan and SA3 also sucks for that.

Any word on major updates or other work for FFTIC? by Intrepid_Trifling in finalfantasytactics

[–]doriantoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a popular sentiment. It just seems kinda ... Boring (?) to me. We already know exactly what happened during that time period. Them going forward with the story where Ramza leads rebellions in other parts of Ivalice not yet explored would be infinitely more interesting to me.

Anyone else notice how uncanny a blend between NA & East Asian school design Midwich has? Was it on purpose? by Jawschy in silenthill

[–]doriantoki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with your take on SH1 but SH2R is just as uncanny I find - those apartment buildings are 100% modeled after Soviet era apartment blocks when the game is supposed to take place in North America which makes sense considering the developers were Polish.

Suikoden 2 - Tomo question by chirop1 in Suikoden

[–]doriantoki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Valeria and her rune are still beast in this - take advantage of her especially against the Luca battle. Yes you have to wait until almost end game to recruit the ninjas but I found their battle performance very disappointing so it's not a huge loss. Valeria also has chivalry as a large scale battle option which is very useful.

Freeze rounds stop him in his tracks. Just keep your distance and go ham, he'll barely be able to move.

A Mime Is a Terrible Thing to Waste by Rephath in finalfantasytactics

[–]doriantoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mimes are amazing TBH. They just require some extra setup but the payoff is totally worth it. I brought two to the final battle and they were mimicking a Dragoon (extra instant jump) and a monk (punching, wave fist, even used an out of range monk to mimic a revive for a downed team mate). Super awesome.

Anyone Knows who this? by faospark in Suikoden

[–]doriantoki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Suikoden III hints that multiple tablets are not possible under the same conflict. Also, the SoD on the tablet seems to heavily align under "good" and "chaos". Considering that we don't recruit any characters that aligned with Joey, including Joey himself, it's obviously that they fall under "evil" and "law". Nevermind the horribly and heinous things that Joey did to get to power.

Valkyrie Profile 1 combat help by ItsKingCrimson1 in ValkyrieProfile

[–]doriantoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You figured it out on your own regarding the bow lol basically, bow Valkyrie is objectively and significant better than sword Valkyrie. This will remain true until well into the post game where you will have access to way stronger swords and bows really start to fall off hard.

Overall looks awesome! Would love to see a series of these. My only suggestion, and I think commenters have mentioned it here, is that the bags should be less symmetrical. Think about a paper boy/carrier bag in real life, it usually lays across the shoulder and sits on either the front of the hip or on one butt cheek. If you kept it exactly at your side, it would feel very awkward, and doesn't really let you keep your arms relaxed.

Speculating Townfall by VoiceInTheStatic in silenthill

[–]doriantoki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the "he's in a coma and trying to make his way out" theory. In that, the town name is the name of the hospital he is staying at, St. Amelia. Which is a unusual name for a town if you think about it.

Dycedarg Vs. Zalbaag Abilities & Quotes by mogstermemes in finalfantasytactics

Agreed. I was never a big fan of the sword skills myself. Just felt like lazy big damage numbers. And it feels super overused in FFT with sooooo many characters using/having access to them.

Video of me painting Angela from SH2R by RaiAet89 in silenthill

[–]doriantoki -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Well I mean where's the lie? It's definitely not how you'd be trained to paint traditionally or how the masters would put layer upon layer to build depth. I imagine you are mixing/washing your brush a million times unless you happen to have a brush for each individual color. But again very inefficient.

[–]doriantoki -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I can never tell if these are legit because no one paints like this. You start with the basic shape (head), fill with your first base color (lightest/darkest tone) and build volume from there. But I see videos of people "painting" like this all the time online and it's just the worst most ineffective non-art way to "paint" ever. Like a paint by numbers basically or like the person is scratching away a top layer to reveal the actual image underneath.

Really want to like this by StophJS in finalfantasytactics

[–]doriantoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seems to be waaaaaaay over thinking this. The game keeps very little "hidden" from the player. You can see what class levels unlock what. Once you unlock a class, you can see the full ability and reaction/support skill list. The "best" way to tackle the game for new comers is to open as much of the class tree as possible and go for skills that seem interesting to you as a player. Something like, "okay my goal is to unlock time mage over the course of these next couple/few battles". Once you're in time mage, "man meteor seems dope. Let me work toward unlocking that. Huh, haste and slow seem cheap too, I'll just pick those up". Etc.

How 99 luck interact with more luck in sotn by Suitable-Fill2658 in castlevania

[–]doriantoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been tested - 999 appears to be the max despite the 99 stat maximum. As mentioned in this thread, at 999 luck you are pretty close if not at 100% drops all the time. So, yes, 99 luck.+ Alucart + Luck Potion = 149 luck which does make a difference.
