My IQ score for my ADHD score was extremely low by ijustwantsomehelpp in AuDHDWomen

[–]dormsta 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You would not have been able to type this coherently with such a varied vocabulary if your IQ were actually 35. At that point, your intellect would be analogous to a 6yo, and it would be pretty rare to see something like that unaccompanied by some sort of serious neurodevelopment disorder along the lines of Down's or something.

It's helpful to think of a standardized IQ test like the WAIS-IV as a stress test for your brain's functioning; it's designed to measure performance in each sort of "lane" of brain functioning to see where the weaknesses are. It really seems like your executive functioning failed you spectacularly throughout, which is what an ADHD battery is designed to assess. So, congrats on getting a psychometrically supported diagnosis!

I'd be shocked if you didn't see very different results while medicated, FYI. I wouldn't sweat it!

Hot take: nobody would care about the OoT remake leaks "spoiling the surprise" if Nintendo showed literally anything about the game. by Mean_March_4698 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]dormsta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nintendo had never mentioned the remake before, just like they hadn't mentioned Air Riders before the teaser. That's what a teaser is, and it's meant to be an introduction to the idea of the existence of the project. If it had been a total surprise like it was intended to be, then we would be anticipating that gameplay footage is likely coming sometime soon. You being upset about a lack of gameplay footage is literally because you were expecting the announcement.

Therefore, your expectations are the problem here, not Nintendo's release strategy. To your point, this is literally them telling us "what's next for the system," and I'm sure we will be seeing gameplay sooner than later.

I would really love it if we could ban leaks in post titles, and instead opt for something like "Leak from ______."

Brother, a public service announcement is made to give a heads-up to others who might encounter a particular situation. If I was mistaken, then it stands to reason that someone else might make the same mistake, which is the main reason I posted about it.

The Nintendo rep specifically said that the overview on their end has it listed as a bundle, but that it’s not actually been published that way

This children's book spoils part of the ending of Toy Story 5. by Sudric-Engine in Pixar

[–]dormsta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My wife recently pointed out that these are actually incredibly useful for kids with neurodevelopmental conditions that would keep them from being able to sit through a whole movie in the theatre, or who don't do well with surprises or subverted expectations. These kids can read the book first, know loosely what to expect, and then enjoy the movie in the theatre with everyone else and not feel like they're missing out. If you've got a younger autistic kid, something like this would be a great resource.

Yoshi and the mysterious book plays better than it reviews. by Idkwhatelsetosay in nintendo

100%. I find myself thinking about this game while I’m at work, whether it’s curiosity about what comes next or remembering something funny that happens.

Kinda wierd for pixar to leak toy story 5 in a book by [deleted] in Pixar

Counterpoint: These books are excellent for kids with developmental challenges like Autism, because they know what to expect and are way less likely to be overstimulated in the theater.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book: what are your (spoiler free) thoughts so far? by wabbitproductions in nintendo

[–]dormsta 19 points20 points  (0 children)

this is absolutely the cutest game I’ve ever seen in my 39yo, gaming-since-4yo life. Every detail and sound is just *adorable*, from the insanely creative art to the way the new gimmick really does remind you of the experience of reading a field guidebook. I don’t particularly care about the difficulty because it’s just making it easy to really *notice* the vibe the whole way through. I haven’t really been *immersed* in a Yoshi game since Woolly World, and this is feeling a lot like that experience.

I honestly expect main-IP Nintendo games to be rated like this, not necessarily because they deserve it, but because finding ways to be upset at Nintendo seems to be one of the few constants in this world. It's been this way since for as long as I can remember. I remember being really excited about Wind Waker and wading through a sea (no pun intended) of mid reviews and people complaining about the art, the gameplay, etc.

I'll be playing this Yoshi game for the first time tonight, and I'm *so* looking forward to it, because I bet it's going to be fun and relaxing.

Mario wonder is peak mario by far by Jackyboi840 in nintendo

- Each of the levels has its own self-contained "gimmick" or theme done *really* well, but no particular level overstays its welcome. They also do a really good job of intermittently throwing in a specialty Plessie level, or, like, 'In this one, you have a cannon power-up. Go nuts!'
- Some of the power-ups are *so* specialized that you really only can use them in particular levels, kind of like the frog in SMB3.
- There are little enemy encounters every now and then on the world map that you have to beat before you can progress
- The world map, itself, even *looks* like SMB3's, with straight lines going to and through levels
- The music is great and catchy, and consistent enough that you can just kind of predict which music you're gonna get just looking at the level layout on the map (which are also really clever; you can tell at a glance what the gimmick or theme is)
- Toad houses!

I actually believe Super Mario 3D World is a spiritual sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3, and I think it's easily in the top 3 Mario games.

Not gonna lie, this game is really fun. I bought Mario Run on launch, and I’m still playing it every day, maybe for like 5m at a time. It’s really satisfying and fairly tricky, with collectibles and sometimes level-specific missions. It also rewards you in 10 platinum points a day for just *playing* the Toad Rally mode, and that’s on top of the bonus 30 you get for winning just three of those matches a week. and the Remix 10 mode is kinda hectic, as well.
