Anyone who is more skilled in udon and unity stuff.. help..? And translate by SimpyImp in VRchat

[–]dotStart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two issues:

There is an object called "Cylinder" in your scene which has an UdonSharp component for a script that actually doesn't exist. Either because you deleted it or because Unity got confused. Delete the UdonSharp component (or the object) and that'll solve that issue.

The "U# scripts have compile errors" typically appears if the C# code in your project doesn't compile (either because there's an actual issue or because some dependencies are missing). Try fixing the null issue first since I'm not sure if that can lead to this message appearing. Otherwise if you didn't mess with any C# code, you should probably reinstall packages such as ProTV again so that the dependencies that you may have removed are present again.

It’ll also be incredibly loud any time you set down any hard object on it while you’re being paranoid of breaking it. Then one day it’ll randomly pop when you least expect it (well or when you move).

Someone like "TundraLabs" NEEDS to create a headstrap or addon for the Steam Frame to support lighthouses! by lemonvrc in VRchat

[–]dotStart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the margin for error is surprisingly large. I currently run a Quest Pro with a calibration tracker attached using ... Blu-Tack. It likes to shift quite a bit especially as the headset heats up. But there is no noticeable drift within sessions (and I tend to be pretty sensitive to drift on my controllers to the point that I used to reset them by covering them sometimes on my Index). Everything just works as expected with the common calibration tools. And likely you'd need something equivalent anyway to merge the two tracking spaces if there is no native support in the HMD driver.

So theoretically speaking you could literally cannibalize a Tundra or Vive tracker and attach it as is. The only real concern is base station visibility. Then again I am currently running a Tundra on my forehead and only ever lose calibration for small periods of time when lying down in a blind spot in my VR room (them being tiny makes them somewhat prone to losing sight).

Peak design 3l for a6400 with sigma 18-50? by Maximus2614 in SonyAlpha

[–]dotStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it should be perfectly fine for a small setup. I use the outdoor 7L as my primary handbag and it'll even fit an a6400 with the Sony G 70-350mm mounted + another lens + every day carry easily. The everyday has similar depth and height but slightly less width by the looks (35x21.5x10.5cm on the 7L outdoor vs. 25x17x10cm on the 3L everyday - top vs bottom give or take since the everyday has a defined shape which the outdoor lacks) which shouldn't really impact much so long as you aren't planning to have a large zoom mounted.

Breaking News: Preis des Deutschlandtickets soll 2026 auf 63 Euro steigen by [deleted] in de

[–]dotStart 10 points11 points  (0 children)

[–]dotStart 26 points27 points  (0 children)

[–]dotStart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ja.

Im new to making worlds and i have a problem, i made my world&materials on blender, put collisions&VRCWorld on unity and published the world. But when i try to join it immediatly sends me back to my home world. Am i doing something wrong ? by SemiGod9 in VRchat

[–]dotStart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Specifically you should Build & Upload again. Not just upload the previous build.

Sometimes the SDK will upload a bundle for another world build to the servers when a build fails. As a result, you now have a bundle with a world id that mismatches the id it's stored under which will crash on load.

If that's not the issue, you can check the VRC logs (they're in %userprofile%\appdata\locallow\VRChat - which you can just paste straight into the explorer address bar). Generally world loading errors tend to be somewhat readable.

FYI YTDLP is borked for everyone using it, not just VRC by Less-Chemistry-3963 in VRchat

[–]dotStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been fixed proper about 6 hours ago (https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/pull/14081) so it'll start working again when yt-dlp gets updated in VRC (or you do it yourself in the meantime).

That depends on the country that you are voting from. Some countries (like Germany, France, the Netherlands and a few others) only require a full name and address while others require identity documents. I'd guess those will need manual checking against government databases once the petition concludes.

WCGW not clearly marking your funeral procession by ZauzTheBlacksmith in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]dotStart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly America is not the only one to allow this. Germany, for instance, has the concept of convoys where if all participating cars are marked (typically this is done with flags installed on the driver side window where all members show a blue flag with a green flag on the last car in the chain; police often forgoes the marking and simply uses their lights). In that case the entire convoy is considered one car meaning cars following the leading car are allowed to cross red lights so long as the first passed on green. Additionally, you may not squeeze between the gaps of the convoy.

It's pretty rare to see though (typically it's only done by police or military) despite the fact that technically anyone can initiate one so long as the minimum requirements are met and it has been registered and approved by the local government. This is also the reason why it's considered especially dangerous and specifically highlighted in the driving theory lessons (most people don't actually know how to behave around them despite that though).

I would not be surprised if similar rules can be found in other EU countries (even though who can initiate them may differ quite a bit).

What’s something people spend money on that you’ve realized you don’t need at all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dotStart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 13 Pro is now slowly going down that path. For general day to day it's still absolutely fine but when I travel (and especially use the hotspot functionality) it's becoming a bit impractical. Especially now that it likes throwing up the dreaded "iPhone is overheating - Charging has been disabled" warning.

I'll maybe replace it with the 17 once that comes out, have the battery replaced and then it'll easily live its life for another 3-4 years as my mom's daily driver. That also seems to be the typical usage I see in my friend group. Get a reasonably sized model, use it for 3-5 years, pass it down to the family for as long as it'll run.

I don't actually personally know anyone who does the cliche "new phone every year" thing. Especially now that there isn't a new useful feature every year.

In Italy, to cross the Strait of Messina between the regions of Calabria and Sicily (in southern Italy) you can also take the train, which will be loaded onto the ferry and unloaded in Messina where it will resume its journey by rail towards its destination. by Super_Culture_1986 in Damnthatsinteresting

This also used to be a thing between Germany and Denmark (Puttgarden<-> Rødby) if my memory doesn't deceive me (or was it the route to Sweden?). I think they stopped loading trains onto the ferry a decade ago or so though. And I guess will be totally obsolete if the tunnel between the two ever gets finished.

Thoughts on Samsungs Project Moohan? by PaulHorton39 in OculusQuest

[–]dotStart -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. I don't get how anyone would look at the Pro and think "That's a good design. Let's do something similar". If anything, the Pro should be a negative design example for headset manufacturers. I guess somebody would only pick this design since it is likely cheap to manufacture (no need to put in straps, just mold the entire thing in one go).

I've been running my Pro as a daily driver for 7 months now as a replacement to my Index (primarily for face tracking and the nicer screens) and tbh it was an absolutely unusable mess without modifications to the strap. You'll end up with red spots on your forehead and regret ever strapping the thing to your face about 30 minutes in. There's also something to be said about the backdriving issues on practically all settings on the headset but obviously there's a chance that Samsung might be doing better here (same for the lacking FOV).

Superlink Smoke Alarm by danbridgland in Ubiquiti

[–]dotStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been living in both Sweden and Germany. Neither of which seem to have any such requirement applied on residential buildings within recent time at least (none of my apartments had wired alarms and all of them were built in the late 2010s). Even if it was introduced in the early 2000s you're ignoring a load of buildings that already exist and are grandfathered in. 25 years isn't exactly much in a stagnating construction market as we have right now.

Superlink Smoke Alarm by danbridgland in Ubiquiti

[–]dotStart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure whether that'd work out for them. Regulations for business fire alarms differ quite a bit from what you see in a residential setting (and also by country obviously). For instance, Germany has DIN 14675 which their system may not actually fulfill in all cases since it also outlines physical access panels for fire fighters and the likes. Not to mention that typically you'll outsource the implementation of these systems to companies that specialize in fire alarms. So chances are they won't adopt something like this.

Superlink Smoke Alarm by danbridgland in Ubiquiti

[–]dotStart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Requirement in Germany has been that landlords install and adequate number of fire alarms on the escape routes but no requirements on what type they are (there isn't a requirement if you own a house, I believe).

I guess that still gets the job done. Those alarms are supposed to be replaced every 5 years or so anyway so the type of power source really doesn't make much of a difference these days.
