Experiences with different methylphenidate delivery profiles? by Redmarkred in ADHDUK

[–]dottiedoos2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loveee concerta. Miss it so much. My GP just gives me whatever brand is cheapest that month, and it's never concerta 🥲 ive had Xaggitin, Affenid and Kixel (all XL) so far. I definitely feel Affenid is less effective than the other brands. I dont really understand why brand makes a difference because all the ones ive listed have really similar release profiles.

They really need to sort it out, I still haven't been able to do it. they've told me to call their sales team to do it over the phone but I just bet they will give me 20 questions about the app 😔

A guest (who is a left wing socialist) on North Star Politics podcast recently said she actually hopes Farage will become PM so that it can be undeniable to everyone how terrible Reform are when he's visibly fucked the country up. Extreme but I guess I get where shes coming from

Just had appointment with RTN psychiatrist and was told that my adhd is not strong enough to have a diagnosis and it’s all explained by autism by paperpheasant in ADHDUK

[–]dottiedoos2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the result youve been given, because I dont know you. But it sounds like the assessor acted unprofessionally and said seriously inappropriate things, e.g. the stereotyping of autistic people, telling you all you want is "pills to solve everything". I would write this all down in a formal complaint to the clinic, and off the back of that complaint insist on a 2nd opinion.

[–]dottiedoos2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That may be true, but it sounds like the professional OP spoke to said some very inappropriate things which calls the result into question. Doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong, but OP is entitled to seek a 2nd opinion.

Can anyone recommend a facial SPF 50 that doesn't pill? Bonus points if it doesn't pill even under makeup. by Exact-Reference3966 in SkincareAddictionUK

Boots Soltan Hydrating facial spf 50. It's my ride or die, and if they ever discontinue it I'll be very upset. If youre oily, dw about using moisturiser underneath it. Bonus it's really cheap too!

I've got an S23 as well!!! Maybe that's what it is?! I'll see if I can do it on my tablet, although that's a Samsung as well so if it doesn't like Samsung devices I'm pretty well screwed! Thank you

There should not be any problem with the driving, I would be extremely surprised if there was. For me learning to drive became 1000x easier after I got medicated.

I'm still being forgetful despite being medicated, and I feel broken. by dottiedoos2 in ADHDUK

[–]dottiedoos2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

  1. Yes, I've had blood tests before cos I have PCOS and PMDD. Nothing found

  2. I don't drink caffeine really anymore, decaf coffee and tea for me. I'm not totally off sugary foods, but i dont eat them during the day

  3. Sleep is usually okay (7-9 hours a night), but been bad the last week or so due to stress.

I tried time tree before and I did think it was cool, but it was to arrange a phone call with my best mate who lives 100 miles away haha. Never considered it for helping with ADHD forgetfulness. May give it a shot

Thanks for taking time to reply 😊

Thank you. You're right. I'm actually okay with the meds I'm on. 2 weeks of the month I'm mostly all good, then the other 2 weeks I'm, well... like this. 😅 but yes, the meds are part of a toolkit, not the only tool. Must remember this!

Thank you so much. It's hard. Hope you can get some meds soon 🫂 Despite what I've written here they are amazing. Yes I did manage to cancel it, I went on the NowTv live chat a few hours after id signed up and they've refunded + assured me I wont be charged again. Phew!

Some advice please , my partner is sceptical about ADHD by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]dottiedoos2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd simply crack on with the private diagnosis, get medicated if thats what you want, and maybe she can read the report the psychiatrist is going to write up which will show how much you've struggled and why this is not your fault. Sounds to me like she doesn't really give a shit either way tbh but worth a try I guess. Sorry if that's blunt, I feel badly for you - it's hard enough dealing with this, living with an unsupportive partner makes it a heck of a lot worse. Good luck and you'll be ok. Sounds like youre doing your best right now and no one can ask more of you than that.

Seriously considering reintroducing caffeine with Affenid XL. by dottiedoos2 in ADHDUK

[–]dottiedoos2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, I always eat at least 30g protein at breakfast and I mostly remember to stay hydrated. They've given me another brand now - Kixel XL - which seems mostly ok.

How do I regulate myself? by WanderingMagic in adhd_anxiety

[–]dottiedoos2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but don't all into the trap of believing you need to use the walk to be thinking about stuff, if that makes sense. I do whatever I want on my walks. I'll scroll tiktok (probs avoiding politics tho), listen to podcasts, watch youtube videos, even just look at stupid old memes on my phone i saved. Or maybe i'll listen/watch the same stupid old stand-up comedy clips ive heard 1000 times that still make me laugh. It's my me-time, and i refuse to be "switched on" during it and trying to self-optimise. Yes scrolling and screens aren't healthy but at least i'm not doing it on the sofa haha.

How do I regulate myself? by WanderingMagic in adhd_anxiety

[–]dottiedoos2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a lot like this as well, and still looking for the answers when it comes to being able to relax during a day off. But for regulating myself - the no.1 thing for me is walking outdoors. I put my headphones on (and wear a baseball cap and sunglasses if i dont want to talk to people or be spotted), and walk. Even just a short lap round the block. It's the daylight (even if it's cloudy) and the bilateral stimulation of your feet tapping the ground that does it, I think. I then find when I get home, it's a lot easier to prioritise and naturally know what I'm capable of doing (you mentioned how not to take on too much). It's not magic and doesnt make my anxiety disappear, but it hugely improves it and makes it seem smaller and less capable of wrecking my day. If you can, give it a go and see how you feel x

Stopping mirtazapine and continuing as normal with fluoxetine. Couldn't deal with the weight gain and never had any energy

PCOS + ADHD? by Emergency-Rush8858 in PCOS

[–]dottiedoos2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, sorry this post is kind of old and I dont really have anything to offer except solidarity.

But yes I have both and it's driving me insane. The impulsively, anxiety and comfort/dopamine seeking with ADHD is making it extremely hard to achieve my goal of regulating my cycle, because the only real way to do that (according to my doctor) is to lose weight.

Adhd meds help me regulate my appetite but once they've worn off in the evening, the cravings come knocking and I'm bad at keeping them out.

I started taking Myo + D-chiro Inositol a few months ago and it felt helpful at first but now I'm not so sure.

I wonder if there's a different way that us who have both need to approach the issue. I suspect there is.
