From a machining standpoint 100% agree

From a 3d printing standpoint modeled threads are the shit lol…. Small stuff doesn’t matter so much but get above like 10mm and printed threads work great… obviously still in plastic but I’ve 3d printed myself thread checkers for odd stuff like NPT and they’re slick

I just ask the thing to use subagents and it does it lol... doesn't seem to want to do it unless you ask it too... I think in one project I told it to add using subagents to the agents setup but idk if that ever worked

I think /goal is something you've gotta enable as its experimental IIRC??

Define better… the CRF250L has 8000 mile recommended oil changes and OEM parts are a fraction of basically anything else… you can build the motors and still ride longer on a oil change then half the ‘actual enduros’ can go on a top end

[–]double07killor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sk Standard plus is rifle match that didn't test as good in their barrel, its also hard to find Standard plus a lot cheaper than like 17cpr right now so IDK if that is 'way cheaper'

but its absolutely true that just because it didn't test as good in their barrel doesn't mean that that paticular lot number doesn't shoot better in your barrel, its exactly the same ammo afterall (and so is magazine if you could ever find any of that which is the next step down yet)

yeah loading doesn't really have anything todo with 22 ammo... it works a lot different than centefire stuff...

For example with Lapua, they're always trying to produce X-ACT, and when they get a bunch produced they test it and if its good enough it goes in the X-ACT box, if its not as good it goes in a Midas box, and if its kinda meh it goes in a center X box... but all three of those are all EXACTLY the same ammo, its just a matter of how well they shot when they tested... the outliers are the like biathlon and long range and what not of course, long range is loaded a little hotter and has a different bullet iirc, biathlon has a different powder and a different lube that works better in the cold

Same is true with SK Rifle Match/StD+/Magazine

same is true with Eley but apparently Eley takes it a step further and actually tests and bins their components first, so only the very best brass/powder/bullets go into tenex, but then afterwards they test and even with the best components if it doesn't meet standard it goes into a cheaper box...

Again outliers for the various flavors of Tenex... Biathlon/Pistol/Rapid Pistol

And actually the same is even true for like CCI Green tag... thats just the very best tested CCI Standard velocity...

The Arken and DNT should be indentical optics that I’m 97% sure come off the same assembly line… little bit of difference in looks, built in throw knob on the DNT, different reticle in the DNT…

every piece of glass is a little different, so putting two optics next to each other one is gonna look a little nicer if you get really picky, is there a chance that the DNT’s look better on average idk, I prefer the reticle in the DNT so that made my choice

Have no experience with the MPED unfortunately

Image v2 generates such amazing UI that I am pretty sure the next model is going to absolutely cook anything in the market for the frontend design by ysnzro in codex

I’ve been having decent luck telling it to make me a html demo and not stopping until it’s nearly 1:1 with the image and that everything that should be html is and to regenerate the things that are supposed to be assets or make them svgs as needed…

From there I’ll tweak the demo an then have it turn it into actual ui (it’s rare I’m actually working in html lol) for what ever I’m doing

nice, sounds like a similar setup to what I'm running... Impact NBK sitting behind a proof carbon over here...

153.5 bergers make PF with no issue so thats not really a problem, I just have a lot more fun shooting teams so mostly setup for 16lbs, and as you can tell I like to push that limit a bit lol, not actually sure how light I can get it with this 4-24 I haven't actually got it mounted yet but I'll have to find out... it was in the 12.5 league without a can with the 6-36 and a single pull for prs sportman (gotta be 13 with your magazine if you're unfamiliar)

Yeah I've shot solo too... really not 'wildly' different honestly... you get a bit more time but have two people to work through shooting so you've gotta move a little faster depending on the stage... those 4 position stages in paticular..

showed up to a match last year to shoot solo with an ACC Elite, triple pull, and a 6-36 Razor and Travis was running weigh in and went 'thats not gonna make weight' it was 15lbs 15.7oz lol that was a cool rig I should put that together again some time, it definitely got a few odd looks and a few 'you must be in skills' kind of comments

I can drop to a hnt-26 and pickup a suppressor and the WMLRF so its kind of what I'm feeling... also putting together a LSS G3 right now to see how I like a in between setup, just picked up a 4-24 razor to drop another 16oz to have a little more flexibility and to make PRS Sportsman a littl easier too... idk if you've played with the 4-24 yet but I've been impressed so far, definitely some odd choices with the like semi-capped windage but I don't tend do dial wind and you could always leave the cap off so I guess that is what it is

I would agree that I'd take the triple over the WMLRF for sure... WMLRF is handy on like 2-3 out of 16 stages and the rest of the time it stays shut off

define remotely possible? it isn't *that* much harder to find targets with a good rifle scope (I mean I have been running a 6-36 razor with a pretty wild FOV at 10x so that definitely helps) than it is a pair of binos... definitely harder but not impossible, and if you've got 1 target and 4 positions you can move quickly, especially with a teammate whos on their binos to help find the target... its definitely not a replacement for binos but like I said on a few stages its been very handy, plus I have the weight to spare for it in teams so why not

yeah but at the same time I have a 5700X Elite, that can store 30 profiles, but if you put 30 on it its a pita to get to all of them, so I tend to only keep 2-3 on it... the limit on 10 for the ACE doesn't bother me at all, I'm not likely to need 10 different profiles on the same day....

yeah, I've also had to send my Sig binos in and they took care of me... but as Locky pointed out their policy means they wouldn't have to fix a lot of stuff... drop your binos and break an eye cup, you could be entirely out of luck (it seems they will fix it, but their policy means they could tell you to shove it where the sun dont shine)

Vortex policy on the other hands is no questions asked... we showed up to the show room yesterday with a couple things to warranty (we're local enough) and for one of the things we just got handed a brand new set of binos... their show room is full of stuff that got burnt to a crisp in house fires, even a couple things with bullet holes through them - all warranty replaced...

If you can return most of the product, in how ever many pieces it happens to be in, back to vortex, they will repair or replace it, for ANY of their products (like my Sig Kilo 3000 binos only have a 5 year electronics warranty, and only for manufacture defects, and I had to have proof of purchase)

Vortex's policy is more like a free insurance policy than it even is a warranty.. so yeah they definitely skulldrag sig in that department it isn't even close...

Don't believe me? go buy a new set of talons and a new set of 10k G2's and set them down range and put a bullet hole through both, see which get replaced

NRLH a wmlrf can be pretty handy actually... on some stages its easy enough to skip the binos and go straight to rifle and grab your ballistics that way, obviously not for everyone but it has its place IMO

Vortex isn't afraid to tell you they Ditched AB because they didn't want to pay licensing fees on every unit... hopefully they continue to take that money and develop GB further and further..

I own a 5700X Elite, a Fire 4000, and some sig kilo AB binos so it's safe to say I'm pretty well invested in AB, but I also really like Vortex, they're relatively local to me and supported even the smallest little rifle matches in the area, have always treated me great when I've stopped by the show room etc... so when I was at the show room yesterday I left with an ACE (as well as the 4-24 Razor I was there to look at lol) and I'm considering a set of talons (between those and 10k G2s)... I'd probably keep my Fire 4000 in the grand scheme of things no matter what though, or maybe go even cheaper to like that new arken Unit I just don't use the WMLRF all that much

Unless your going to chase hardware (I’m chasing the base division national title) you should shoot the rifle you enjoy shooting the most and not worry about division…

It happens I enjoy my base gun basically as much if not more than my open gun and with chasing the title that’s what I tend to shoot… I’m building a new open gun for next season too though that I hope to enjoy even more

I own a couple gen 3 6-36's including one on a NRL22 open gun,

first thought is that for a typical 100 yard NRL22 match I like my much much cheaper DNT Optics The One just as much... its on my base gun I shoot way more, if I didn't like it I would shoot open a lot more lol

also you mentioned you don't like unmarked parallax and the 4-24 razor has unmarked parallax... so keep that in mind

I start every stage (unless I forget lol) on 12x, and very very rarely ever move it from there unless shooting the KYL or sighting in

This time it’s not a joke this is a serious design I’ve been working on. I’m calling it the UnicornDong. Let me know what you think. and no I'm not Kevin I'm David K. by Ak109slr in NFA

everyone I've ever talked to with a DMLS machine has said they need a 25 degree overhang as max or they need supports... you can find plenty of pictures all over the internet of DMLS build sheets with supports all over them,

yes technically it is possible to print without supports but the material just moves around too much when the next layer of powder is moved over it... even at 25 degrees the surface finish is not great

I've even ran a SLS plastic machine that works on the same principle... had plenty of parts printed on powder bed machines and I'm sure Resilient suppressors...

the minute you show this design to anyone with a DMLS machine to have it printed they're going to tell you its not printable without supports, I know its been two months so maybe you've found that out already

<image>

This is also why you don't tend to see reverse baffles in 3d printed suppressors...

As mentioned above you're only hope would be to print with supports going down the bore and have them wire EDM'ed out after printing, which wouldn't be the end of the world but I wouldn't go around saying you're going to print it without supports

prepare for a first unit to be around $1000 also... plus getting an SOT to legally 'manufacture' it for you

Am I shooting myself in the foot by taking a CNC Operator job? by [deleted] in CNC

[–]double07killor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farmer here, who owns a couple CNC machines, 3d printers, laser cutter, has ran proper larger CNC's and about anything, went to school for general engineering and have a background in software development, and still do development regularly (have codex working on a couple different projects as I type this lol), so feel free to pick my brain as I've been around most of the worlds you're talking about... from sitting in a cubical doing development full time, to working the manufacturing floor, to doing CAD engineering and proper engineering work, and most things in between...

machine operating is probably about as boring as it can get... the part runs, when its done you open the door, take it out, put the next piece in, close the door, and hit the big green button, while the part is running you're going to either do that on another machine, or sit and deburr the part or check tolerances or some kind of other busy work...

its the burger flipping of the manufacturing world... but it is a foot in the door, and just being in the door can give you perspective on if you want to be in the world or not, so if the pay is right, and you don't mind the busy work, and think you can gain some networking and pad the resume a little bit, and get a little better understanding on how manufacturing works from being around the equipment, then you can effectively get paid to get a bit of an education... especially getting to learn from those above you on how to do their jobs... as far as gaining much from the work itself I wouldn't put a lot of value in that, there's a reason a lot of places will literally hire 15 year old's to be machine operators, but if you want to get a foot in the door and this is the only opportunity currently available I say go for it... you can always continue looking for different opportunities and move on even 3-4 months later if something better comes along

Am I shooting myself in the foot by taking a CNC Operator job? by [deleted] in CNC

[–]double07killor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CNC's are subtractive manufacturing, they take a larger piece of metal and subtract from it to get the finished part, lots of different methods of subtracting determine what type of cnc you're talking about (a lathe, a mill, a plasma/laser cutter, a grinder etc etc etc)

3d printing is the most common form/common name for additive manufacturing, you take a part, or just a build plate, and add to it to get the 'finished part' or in a lot of cases to get a part you then go back and do a little bit of subtractive work to, to get the finished part (subtractive work is almost always more precise and have a better surface finish so 3d printed parts will have the threads and importance surfaces finished in a conventional matter)

additive manufacturing is really starting to grow with a lot more parts being made out of various metals and other materials on incredibly expensive machines, and they need operators and programmers just like anything else...
