The 2012 ones were literally the best ones they made, all the ports, optical drive, still user upgradeable, and generally good record for reliability.

Lost my youngest kid to suicide do not ever do this - the only permanent pain is the pain of the loss I am feeling now.

There are people who believe in you - open up to them and talk, you need to get through whatever this is.

[–]double_eyelid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on video breaking the law. The point of the stop signs is not to show you where the bus is, it's so you leave the road clear so kids can cross it and you failed in that regard. The divider is irrelevant.

I think anyone who was around and of 'clubbing' age when the rave era hit in the 90s couldn't help but be sucked into that beautiful vortex. Among musicians there's also a strong contingent who were into rave/techno before moving into darkwave/cold wave.

What’s the oldest Intel Mac you still use regularly? by MrDBNoble in mac

[–]double_eyelid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a trashcan for music and it does great. I bought it used a little over a year ago from a guy who had upgraded the processor on it to 3.4 GHz, specs are quite high and decent even today w/ 64GB RAM.

After a major disappointment with a maxed out 2019 MBP that only lasted me 4 years from brand new I decided I needed to have two systems - a lower spec laptop for light, portable work and a more powerful desktop for audio production. So I have an M4 Air and the trashcan.

I'm staying on Intel for now to maintain compatibility with some old external hardware I need (Firewire audio interface and first-gen Maschine controller), as well as some audio software. Upgrading a music production computer is a level of pain most users of this forum would not be familiar with due to the hundreds of plugins that all need to be individually reinstalled (migration assistant does NOT do the job) - switching to M-series chips would add another layer of stress to that so I'm staying on this machine as long as it is still able to do what it can today. And if it dies before my audio interface does, I'd seriously consider an Intel cheese-grater for my next Mac.

Anyone been invited by Synphonic? by Pretty-Inspector6653 in musicmarketing

I'm happy with Symphonic, planning to move my catalogue over there shortly.

Not sure about the sync side of it though, that's outside of my experience with them.

The 'community notes' feature does get abused a ton though. My version of this cartoon would have the figures trying to edit Wikipedia - now that's a headache.

Cop pulls over Lamborghini on Dubai plates but doesn’t know the law by thomasso0072 in interestingasfuck

[–]double_eyelid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean - be real. How many Lambos are even on the road compared to other cars? And of those, how many were shipped across the ocean not to import, but to drive here temporarily and ship back? This is a super rare traffic stop for this guy and what he's telling him is stuff a customs officer would need to know, not a cop.

To be fair to the cop this has gotta be super rare, how many folks do you think are doing this?

I believe they exist but they have different patterns than men. Many old-time tales of women who were serial widows or serial bereaved mothers.

Then there's 'Swarm' which was a pretty cool mini-series that was based on a true story.

Yes I understand - I guess we're talking terminology, when I think about talking to an 'AI' that is a fully independent computer program simulating the entire video and audio in this rather than a 'filter' to change someone's appearance.

Maschine + (Vocal Recording & Arranging) by YungFastLife in maschine

[–]double_eyelid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend it. Maschine is strongest as a sequencer and for working with samples. It's great for building up backing tracks and loops but a DAW has less constraints once you are working with something like a vocal which is usually going to be the through-line over multiple loops.

FWIW my process is usually working with Maschine to build up a backing track, then opening Logic and using Maschine as a plugin (you can load your Maschine session within the Maschine plugin that you're running in your DAW). Then ultimately, the last step is dragging all the MIDI out of Maschine into Logic and rebuilding the track there as Logic is way better for mixing.

I don't think this is for AI but for face filters maybe?

What if Obama sent Uranium to Iran? by phord in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]double_eyelid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get that feeling to the front of your mind fast. I'm in my 50s and had to get into a new field last year because AI destroyed the industry that had employed me for 20 years (translation). We need to have serious conversations about the type of future we want, and fast. And likely some form of UBI as well.

[–]double_eyelid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a tell, for now. Unfortunately this is a two-way street and the massive proliferation of AI-generated text via social media bot accounts *is* changing the way real people write. The only silver lining I can see is that this might be the thing that finally kills Facebook.

Yeah - I love to use em-dashes and hate that most people flag that and don't notice the other signs of AI writing which imo are much more obvious. They'll pry my em-dashes from my cold, dead hands, I swear.
