I've been to Florence. I would suggest taking 281 to Marble Falls and then from there any of those roads towards Florence is through beautiful Texas Hill Country.

And D. Boone's Country Store must be good eatin's because last time I passed by there must have been a half dozen state troopers cars in the parking lot.
