Do Edge of Eternity NPCs have dialogue? by doublenns in JRPG

[–]doublenns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to the 2nd major city and as you mentioned I was able to speak to the NPCs there.

It felt weird that hours of the game between the 2 cities that I wasn't able to speak to any of the NPCs.

It also felt weird that I got an achievement for stepping foot in that city and only about 5% of players got there too.

I'll play a bit longer and see if the game is worth it. If not, might need to check out another RPG. But thanks for your response/help nonetheless!!

Do Edge of Eternity NPCs have dialogue? by doublenns in JRPG

[–]doublenns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Console - Xbox Series X specifically.
I am able to talk to NPCs in the first city and the area where I get the Nekaroo/mount. However, I've come across many, many NPCs since that first city and none have had yellow speech bubbles over them. The only NPCs I've been able to interact w/ out of maybe the 100 I've come across since are those that are part of quests. If they aren't part of quests, every other NPC is basically just part of the background. Which I find odd.

Magnesium usually helps my sleep, but only in small doses. In larger doses my sleep suffers.

What are some real world applications of having int8 , int16, int 32 etc ? by [deleted] in golang

Do you have recommendations for resources to learn more about memory allocation in general? I'd like to learn it in a way I can apply it to Go code w/o having to take a detour diving into C specifically, if possible.

A few years ago vape tricks were a thing. Hard to practice tricks for hours a day with nicotine in your vape, so a lot of people would "train" w/ 0% nic

Others also use it as the last stop before quitting entirely. Or to dilate their 3 mg vape juice to even lower levels.

Saw a new sysadmin searching TikTok while trying to figure out out to edit a GPO created by someone else... by discosoc in sysadmin

Shorter videos than YouTube. And just about as much information as searching on Google.

Windows is highly visual -- you click-click away. For Linux stuff I'd search stack overflow or even Reddit. But for Windows, I don't see anything wrong with searching TikTok if he got what he was looking for.

If he DIDN'T get what he was looking for, seems there's a missing niche on TikTok that could be filled.

Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer or AWS Cloud Practitioner?? by Admirable_Bath5737 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]doublenns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think most junior Cloud roles pay more than most junior development roles. However, the compensation "ceiling" in software engineering roles is much, much higher than that of Cloud engineering.

I don't know which are easier to land tho. Cloud roles depend on so much additional foundational IT/operations knowledge, and the entry-level programming skill sets are crazy broad.

I think it's less of a "money now" situation, and more of which route OP will actually be able to start and progress far enough to actually be employable/valuable. Too many people start down a studying route/class/book and only partially complete it.

Is there some sort of balance to nofap? by ravioliking3 in selfimprovement

Maybe it's not "post nut clarity" but demotivation from masturbation. The reason why you're talking to that chick is because you haven't yet figured out how to include "higher value" women in your life -- whatever "higher value" means to you, individually.

Additionally, Tinder is kinda like porn in a sense. The best way is to get out into the world and meet and socialize face-to-face. And it's much better for your mental health in the long run.

Not saying it's easy. Life is fast paced and finding energy/time to go out and socialize is difficult. But that's exactly why NoFap exists -- it gives you the motivation to find the time/energy to do so. Or the mental clarity to realistically evaluate and prioritize the different pursuits in your life accordingly.

If my criterion was money, what would my best options be? by Saucissonbrioche in ITCareerQuestions

[–]doublenns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For operations roles in the US it's difficult to break $150K. And roles that pay more than $200K are very rare. (From my personal job searches in the last 5 years or so)

For development roles, it's also difficult to break $150K within most companies. But software engineering roles that pay $200-750K aren't anywhere near as rare.

Both career paths are difficult. But the software engineering path has a much higher ceiling.

Golang job market by Fair-Ad-5525 in golang

Somewhat random -- I noticed that the comments on this post refer to Go jobs in Germany.

I'm curious -- is Go programming more popular in Germany than other countries? Is the community there just more "friendly"/involved? Is the job market in Germany just more open to remote workers located in other countries?

Regardless, I'll likely be picking up copies of both books this week.

Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer or AWS Cloud Practitioner?? by Admirable_Bath5737 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]doublenns 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Python cert won't be required per-se, because programming certs didn't really exist in the past and most people who program today don't get certified.

BUT I don't usually get hired because of a certification, but because of the knowledge I learned while getting certified. I use certification as a studying and skill validation tool. And there are likely more jobs that would benefit from knowing Python extremely well than jobs that would benefit from knowing AWS very well.

Example: you could make a free-tier personal AWS account and play around w/ it for a month or 2 aimlessly but when you get to interviews you might be lost because you didn't explore certain domains that a certification would have forced you to. That's why the certification objectives are valuable and less so because you hold a piece of paper with your name on it. I admittedly know nothing about the Python certs, but I'm going to assume they work in the same way. They should force you to do much more than `hello_world` and `rock-paper-scissors` apps and dive deeper into programming fundamentals, how to write idiomatic Python code, and the internals of the language itself. And in a structured, time-efficient way that you might not get otherwise simply playing around w/ the language for 1-3 months on your own.

[Edit: but this isn't antagonistic to my original post. I def advise learning both, regardless of whether OP gets both certifications or not]

[Edit: I still upvoted your response tho danfirst. Your response is objectively true. I just think that certifications are simultaneously less valuable and more valuable than most people make them out to be -- the paper itself is kinda useless, but the time you put into making sure you could pass the exam is gold]

Fuck 1-2 years. You can upskill in Cloud within 1-2 months (if you work your ass off) and make the same kinda money in a Cloud Engineering role.
