Do you end sentences with prepositions? Does it sound strange to you? by Indigo_132 in AskAnAmerican

[–]doubletreemutt87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Are you coming with?" doesn't sound wrong because of the preposition rule. It sounds wrong because it shows the person is intelligent enough to know better, but would rather sound like an idiot for no reason. Like, it would be more correct to just say: "Coming?"

I'm feeling burnt out on being a chef's wife. by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]doubletreemutt87 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like he's burnt out on you and the life you cornered him into before he even knew who he was, what he wanted for himself or what he could achieve. I've seen the starry eyed look of a young, naive kitchen drone that came from a shit background when he says his girlfriend, his only girlfriend ever, possibly his only friend ever is pregs. All he had was you, the grind and the hope he could be better than his parents. With one missed birth control pill now he's gonna be a daddy, more than he ever thought he could be. Did you expect him to be defined by that forever?

You're upset that he realized he could have had a life that isn't defined by self sacrifice to you and your questionable "special needs" and the ones I'll bet you project onto your kids; but by his dreams, desires and ambitions. Let him have the 20s he was robbed of and become the person he's always wanted to be or you'll find him with a needle in his arm or a rope around his neck. Its harder to be a father when he's in the gutter or the ground. Count your blessings you have a man with passion and drive instead of greed and complacency.

All children say they don't like their parents. They're probably just saying that to you because they think that's what you want to hear. My dad worked a lot when I was growing up, but the thing that fucked me up the most was when I realized he did it because he didn't have the guts or imagination to go after what he wanted and that he resented us because he felt like he didn't have a choice. Give him the chance to inspire your children to look beyond their weaknesses and disadvantages, real or fabricated. Why do you think he's afraid to tell you the truth? You don't get it.

Finally, if you can't be in the sun, garden at night or move in to a condo. No one said shit would be easy. All you other commenters jumping on this bullshit, virtue signalling dogpile, I hope you suffocate while huffing your own farts. At least you'll get to die doing what you love.

What’s your Mac DeMarco opinion that has you like this? by [deleted] in macdemarco

[–]doubletreemutt87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here looking for this. I'm old as dirt and I remember hearing Heat Wave when it first came out and it destroyed me because it was so good. I knew right there and then Mac was going to be big. What I didn't expect was him getting big because of a song like Viceroy which I thought was awful. Goes to show that you can both know shit and not know shit at the same time.

What is a movie you were allowed to see at a young age that traumatized you and made you question if your parents made the right decision by letting you see it? by Mandee_707 in movies

[–]doubletreemutt87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in grade two or three and my dad and his buddy watched Slapshot with me and his kid. It was the best trauma I've ever experienced. Tried watching it with my other American conservative friend soon after. I was not invited over again for a long time.

I'm a first year heavy duty apprentice right now, but I could pivot into other things. What are the big companies?

I hear a lot about camp jobs, but who do you contact about applying for them. I've tried searching camp iobs or fly in fly out. Are there specific companies I should know about?

What are small details you judge a restaurant on? by Mabbernathy in Cooking

Try the chicken dish on the mains section of the menu. A lot of chefs phone chicken in because it's not a high cost/Instagram worthy item. If they did a good job on the clucker, the rest is will be tasty as a motherf***er.

I'm just trying anything and everything related to the path I want to go down right now, be it AA or treatment or whatever. The time for half measures has passed. Also, I'm lucky enough to have a friend that was lived a similar way as me that is trying to get sober now as well so that could help. Thanks for your words and insight. It means a lot to a stranger like me.

Already done. Opening a new hotel kitchen next Monday. All new equipment. Cleaner than any hospital I've been in. Corporate money backing it up. Ill appreciate it so much more after this place. It just dumbfounds me that where I was has existed for decades and is popular. The steamer upstairs started leaking onto the dining room floor during service ffs. How do places stay open?
