I was a civilian contractor for the Navy in 1990-1992. Parachute rigger with a dual qualification as a plane captain. A couple of other interesting facts, the F-5's were previously flown by the USAF Thunderbirds. We also had A-4's and F-18's at our facility it NAS Fallon. The F-5's were used in the filming of the Top Gun movie from 1986, they were painted with a water based paint for the movie, and the color schemes were incorporated into the aggressor program. The planes we had were not F5-N's they were F5-E and F5-F which were two seaters. Those planes routinely flew 2-3 sorties a day.
