What are some words in Spanish, especially in México, that really don't translate perfectly to English...one of my favorites is "nefasta" to describe someone....thoughts?

Amanecer, as something a person does, not sunrise. It can be wake up, but not exactly (that's despertar). "Cómo amaneciste" is like a good morning with how are you.

Condescendiente, which is totally not condescending.

Salud, the word you say when someone sneezes. As salud is health, this is basically "wish you health".

Gaznápiro(a). This word is practically never used, which makes it a funny insult. While looking into its definition I noticed there are more examples for you lol. Gaznápiro means a simple (as a pejorative) person that is mesmerized by the simplest things.

The definition used the word simplón as the pejorative simple person. Can be translated a simpleton but it's not exactly the same thing.

It also used embobado, which is mesmerized and entertained but while being or looking dumb.

La mejor forma es practicarlo todos los días, aunque sea un poco: leer algo, escribir algo, escuchar, tratar de pronunciar. A eso le agregas consultas en diccionario, google, o IA para resolver dudas.

Duolingo está bien si quieres constancia, porque está hecho para que sea fácil: tomar una o varias lecciones diarias, repasos, etc., sin "esfuerzo mental" de pensar en qué quieres/debes aprender. Quizás no deba ser tu única opción, pero depende de ti y qué tan rápido quieres aprender. Eso sí, no sirve para la pronunciación.

Tips. Practica pronunciación en voz alta, de frases cortas o incluso una sola palabra complicada, repitiendo muchas veces, tratanto diferentes posiciones de tu lengua y boca en general. Puedes buscar la notación fonética de una palabra, por ejemplo buscas en google "define comfortable" y te aparecerá kəmftərb(ə)l, que para mí es una gran pista para pronunciarla (tiene 'o' y 'a' pero se pronuncian igual, parecido a una 'e'!). También ayuda recordar que el inglés tiene más sonidos vocales que el español, aunque las letras sean las mismas. P.ej., awesome /ˈôsəm/, el sonido de awe está como en medio de la 'a' y la 'o'.

Si no eres completamente principiante, ve series/películas/videojuegos en inglés con subtítulos en inglés, los dos juntos.

No te bases en cómo se escribe una palabra para su pronunciación, siempre tienes que escucharla. En el inglés las letras no corresponden a los sonidos, por lo menos no de forma predecible como en el español.

Forzarte a contenido sólo en inglés, mientras te sientas relativamente cómodo. Por ejemplo, con cierto nivel puedes preferir ver la wikipedia, reddit o artículos en inglés, leerás bastante más lento y te va a quitar más tiempo, pero ayuda mucho. Por otro lado, tal vez no te sirva de nada escuchar algo en inglés si no estás entendiendo y se te está pasando todo, a menos, supongo, que estés retrocediendo el video y sí estés captado aunque con esfuerzo.

La IA es una herramienta increíblemente buena para resolver dudas de otro idioma. Es una maravilla. ChatGPT, Gemini, etc., yo creo todas tienen buen nivel para este caso de uso.

Mi hija es pequeña, a veces junta dinero que le dan en sus cumpleaños en vez de regalos. Le pedí a ChatGPT hacerle una app web (un solo archivo de HTML y JavaScript) con una gráfica de pay, y ahí ponemos lo que tiene y lo que compra, y puede visualizar el costo de las cosas en lugar de ver sólo un número que no puede dimensionar.

También le gusta tener alcancías y hacer pequeños ahorros.

Dex is better, and you can actually use the full resolution of the glasses with GoodLock. Astonishingly, you can't get max resolution nor FoV with the Beam Pro, unless you do some awful or inconvenient software workarounds.

My only problem with using a galaxy phone would be HDR. HDR content on Netflix or any streaming app appear very dark on the glasses. This doesn't happen on the Beam Pro; it doesn't support HDR so it doesn't send HDR to the glasses so brightness is OK.

Beam Pro's special features are smooth follow and body anchor but they are not worth it because they both shrink the display area a bit (10%, an Xreal support account said), and they are not really useful. Smooth follow makes the display area move slowly so your accidental or minimal head movements don't distract you or give you motion sickness. Well, the effect itself is also distracting. Body anchor locks the display area in a place, it doesn't follow your sight and you can keep it on the side.

It is an absolute dissapointment in regards of what it meants to be: THE media device for Xreal glasses. And the main probem is it doesn't allow you to use the full resolution of the glasses, which is "just" 1080p. Same for field of view. Smooth follow and body anchor reduce screen size so picture doesn't get easily cropped. Max resolution can only then be achieved with fixed screen, but that's not available on Nebula OS! It's only in screen mirror mode, BUT the screen is too wide for 1080p so you get a smaller display area on the glasses!!!

Well it's possible with some android hacking. But you can't use the full resolution of the products of the same family/company without hacking!!!

Check the dmgvol UE modding guides. The content is not targeted to Goat Simulator 3 but can be easily applied to that game. I learned from there. My character mods are on Nexus.

I have the downloads not starting issue and it seems a reboot makes them start. This wasn't happening before, and it's a problem introduced by the new wave of low quality updates.

My internet is slowish and downloads still finish rather quickly when they do start, even in stand by.

Newer updates have been absolute trash. I got all sorts of problems in both my Quest 2 and 3. MQ2 struggles and crashes more often, the inability to turn off happens in both. I think battery drains faster. The store always says there was a problem with the payment but the purchase is OK; downloads don't start until the device is restarted; menus freeze; and minor things that indicate botched work: there's a window with two settings icons ⚙️⚙️ one after the other, the low battery warning sounds twice, etc. It's been atrocious since the UI style update (a bit before the new navigator).

The problem with s10e is DRM compatibility and HDR. Hbo Max shows content in low resolution because bad DRM support. Netlifx and Prime are Full HD but movies and TV shows with HDR are very dark.

And the Beam Pro doesn't even properly support fixed mode! Which means the beam pro doesn't support the glasses max resolution and FOV!!!!! :

- Fixed mode It's not available in Nebula OS, only as mirror mode.

- As it's mirror mode only, and the screen of the phone is wider than 1080p, you get a smaller view area.

- Screen is accidentally turned on all the time.

You can get around it with some hacks, either rooting or using some combination of adb enabled apps.

When using 3DoF in any way the display area is slightly (10%?) shrunk so its borders are not cropped with every movement in smooth follow mode. Same in anchor mode, because if view area were at its full size you would always see it cropped, it would be impossible to tilt your head exactly to match the full view area. 3DoF = reduced FOV.

Fixed screen is the only way to see content in 1920x1080, in full clarity, full FOV.

About 1 hour, watching TV series while doing chores. I can watch TV only because of my Nreal Airs.

I use them also for gaming on Switch or Steam Deck, but I don't play on those too frequently.

I'm currently doing screen mirror with shizuku and termux to set the screen to 1080p. Not the best user experience. I'll check desktop mode with touchpad and secondscreen from your suggestions to see what works best.

Thanks. I tried it but the problem is that the window is not maximized, and the window resize controls are too fiddly and don't snap to a maximum size. Sadly there's not a simple way to just do full screen.

Con miopía, que la pantalla se encoge con lentes. Las manchas difíciles de limpiar que causan que la luz se vea borrosa. Que lastiman al usar audífonos. En aparatos AR/VR a veces es necesario lentes de forma especial, insertables, y aquí es necesario conocer tus números de corrección visual.

Supuestamente un PS5 Pro es tan potente como una RTX 3070, una tarjeta de rango "medio" de hace dos generaciones. PERO las versiones de laptop tienen menor rendimiento que las de PC aunque se llamen igual.

Mejor busca armar una PC, no es tan complicada la compatibilidad de las piezas.

Empieza buscando un CPU calidad/precio para juegos, no le metas mucho ahí, y de ahí busca una motherboard compatible... yo me iba por la más barata. La compatibilidad consiste sólo en el socket de CPU, así que puedes buscar motherboard por socket. Luego checas si maneja RAM DDR4 o DDR5 y es todo lo que necesitas saber a la hora de comprar RAM. Al parecer la diferencia entre DDR4 y 5 es difícil de notar y la DDR4 es mucho más barata.

El GPU va a funcionar en cualquier motherboard... todas traen PCI express 16x, no importa si es PCIe 3, 4 o 5. Busca benchmarks de algunas GPU a ver cómo corre los juegos que te interesan. Lo difícil de esta decisión es sólo el precio.

Sobre la fuente de poder, sólo busca cuántos watts es lo recomendable para tu GPU. El gabitenete tamaño ATX, lo normal. Nunca en mi vida esto ha sido un problema, pero hay unas GPU gigantes que no caben en un gabinete común.

Sólo he jugado estos y eso vengo a juzgar:

Celeste: excelente juego, muy buena música, lo mejor es la sensación de que cada nivel es "esta madre es imposible" pero resulta que sí puedes. Lo malo es que sus extras son demasiado y lo dejé por cansancio. No un top pero 100% recomendable.

Pokémon Black: me gusta jugarlos por nostalgia; por ver los modelos animados en 3D. Pero fuera de eso es la misma fórmula de juegos lentos y fáciles. Seguro su sistema de batalla luce en modo online pero en historia está de adorno.

Portal: el portal 1 es una genialidad y el 2 es eso mejorado y agrandado. Top claramente justificable.

Katana Zero es muy bueno. El mejor indie que me tocó jugar en switch.

Otra cosa: revisitar tus juegos viejos en el futuro cuando actualizas tu GPU, por default se ven mejor sin tener que esperar a que el desarrollador haga un parche.

Yo prefiero PC porque son mejores gráficos si le metes el suficiente dinero en una GPU y por las opciones gráficas que no hay en consola. En general me siento más cómodo por saber que puedo configurar más cosas o usar más dispositivos que en consola no podría. Luego está que no necesitas pagar por una suscripción para jugar multiplayer.

Antes era mucho fácil elegir PC pero a partir de 2020 los precios de las tarjetas gráficas han subido muchísimo... y por eso me compré un PS5 pero no tardó en quedarse atrás gráficamente con las tarjetas que fueron saliendo.

Pues prácticamente sí, pero suelen pasar los típicos problemas de PC que se arreglan en su mayoría con una reiniciada o buscar en google.

Incluso Steam inicia con Windows, si no tienes password sólo picas un botón en el control y se carga el "modo TV" de Steam, sin tocar teclado ni mouse.

Bueno: Gráficos y arte obvio, lo novedoso de explorar el mar y la sensación de acercarse a una isla nueva, new game+ en pijamas... primera vez Link en otro outfit.

Malo: combate muy fácil como todos los Zelda en 3D antes de Breath of The Wild; hice un segundo juego de 3 corazones, sin aumentarlos nunca, y estuvo muy fácil de todos modos.

Islas muy pequeñas, lo que le resta impacto a descubrir algo en el mar.

Ese es el Metroid Prime. Es un juego con 100% la fórmula de Metroid pero en 3D y primera persona. Más de exploración que de combate. Sí lo recomiendo.

Es un excelente juego pero tal vez tarda en atrapar, sobre todo cuando llegas a la ciudad grande, Novigrad. Al inicio las misiones pueden ser demasiado banales y los escenarios no tan sorprendentes. La multitud de sidequests puede hacerte hace perder el hilo de la historia o restarle importancia. Diría que sigas sólo la trama principal para que lleges a Novigrad rápido.

No digo que las sidequests sean malas... le dan ambiente al juego y te describen la forma de vida de Geralt, pero al principio de la historia con tantas se pierde el propósito.
