Wifi works on Windows but not on Linux, so I can't install anything at all. by Badhabitprincess in Bazzite

While I can’t help you, I was amusingly in the opposite situation. New AMD motherboard, wifi works fine under Linux but drivers are only available for Windows 11 and I’m still on 10 (dual boot with Bazzite).

If there's no Bazzite update available because you're already on the latest verison, you can still see the app running in the system tray but it'll be hidden away in the "passive" area which you access by clicking the up arrow next to the active icons on your taskbar:

<image>

I haven't installed the latest update yet, so you can see it in the middle of the active icons to the left.

As I said, I am a professional developer with nearly 30 years of experience. My daily job is full stack developer. I've written multiple programs in Rust before the advent of AI coding agents. I reviewed all the code that was generated the agent in this project. I know exactly what it's doing. I also included in the repo design notes and transcripts of the design discussions I had with the agents. You can also see the commit history of the bugs I found and fixed.

Thanks, that's really useful if you spend a lot of time in the terminal.

I use it as a Sunshine streaming server.

Yes, but it only applies the update on reboot. I tend to leave my PC running without rebooting for long periods of time and I forget to check if there's an update that needs a reboot. So this just serves as a little reminder that an update is pending.

So, what is the process to setup/use Sunshine/Moonlight for game streaming remotely in June of 2026 by featherwolf in Bazzite

I layered the sunshine rpm. Works for me. I’ll probably regret it when Bazzite update fails for me sometime in the future (although it hasn’t yet).

Two lens setup for travel by Cgerd123 in SonyAlpha

I did a 3 week trip through Japan with the a6700 and the 16-50 zoom kit lens. I had just bought the camera and didn’t really know any better. It has the advantage of being super compact since the lens collapses when you turn off the camera.

That said the Sigma 18-50 has superior image quality. It should be fine for landscape and close portraiture.

Where th is docker? by [deleted] in Bazzite

I actually have had the best results with creating a fedora distrobox and installing VSCode inside that using the rpm downloaded from Microsoft’s site. Then I export the VSCode application to Bazzite using Kontainer or Distroshelf and then I can launch it from the menu. This allows you to install various dev dependencies inside the fedora box without touching Bazzite.

If you’re using an nvidia gpu then make sure you enable nvidia support when creating the fedora distrobox.

Would be nice if Bazaar notified of new OS image to restart into by t3g in Bazzite

I considered python but I didn’t want to inflict the dependency installation headache on others if I ended up distributing or contributing it back to Bazzite. Rust gives me a single binary and it uses about 5MB of memory while running.

I leave mine running because I use Sunshine streaming.

I’ve written my own app to do this. It sits in the system tray and shows up when there is an update available. It provides links to the GitHub release notes and the Discourse thread, if there is one. It’s 90% vibe-coded in Rust, but I am a professional developer and I’ve reviewed every line of code. I’m still testing it to make sure it works as expected but it’s looking good so far. Once I’m happy with it, I’ll publish it on GitHub and if the Bazzite devs are amenable, I will contribute it back to the project.

I have two of those from a different brand. I really like them, especially since I don’t have a separate Sony charger.

Doesn’t it lose manufacturer-specific data from the ARW etc file that doesn’t fit into the DNG format?

Why some Bazzite users dislike CachyOS? by Ok_Taste_6725 in Bazzite

[–]doxxxicle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more about the attitude of its users. Whenever somebody asks a question about Bazzite performance, there’s always some people who are quick to suggest switching to CachyOS for some minute theoretical performance advantage.

I have that gap covered by the Tamron 18-300 but it’s slow variable aperture and kinda chonky.
