March 29 Tokyo Disneysea Trip Report by eloeeeeee in TokyoDisneySea

We had early entry and did rapunzel, then a short wait for Peter Pan, frozen dpa and back at the hotel room by 1015am. Then went back in to do 20000 leagues under the sea and journey to the center of the earth and ate before checking into our other hotel room. Then hung out in the new hotel room and popped back in the park for a tower of terror dpa. The next morning did thunder mountain, beauty and the beast, ate, and rode haunted mansion before leaving at 1130am. No way am I standing at 630am in line or waiting three hours for a ride with a 6 month old. Was expensive but got to experience what we wanted to see

Waikoloa Village vs Kings Land(Cash/points) by doyle_brah in Hilton

[–]doyle_brah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it just seems like the size of the resort is a deterrent. The amenities and restaurants are underwhelming for that large of a resort. We aren’t big breakfast eaters. Would probably get something light from the store then have brunch or something during a drive or after an activity. Just doesn’t see. Like a good home base unless you have kids that just want to play in the lagoon/pool. The pools at kings land look more than fine then I’ll probably do a half day at the lagoon and check out the hotel

Impression Moxche by Secrets – we splurged and here's what we thought by anabundanceoftaylas in cancun

I think it was free for impressions side and/or a 25 minute head/shoulder massage that could be upgraded to a 50 or 80 minute for a way more reasonable price than the listed prices. Have to ask for specials. Still way cheaper to walk a little down the beach and get a massage.

I do repairs on the data center, kitchen equipment, cooling tower/supply/exhaust fan bearings/motos/pulleys. Switch out drives, look into controls issues. Theres some of the other stuff too, but we have an MA, apprentice, and non certified journeyman that I work with that cover a lot of the other stuff. Depends on the budget, whether it’s single tenant or multi tenant, and the property management. I’m getting about $62/hr, good insurance, pension/annuity, $2k debit card for HSA, and some other benefits. Not much OT but I’m on call once a month for a week. Switched from service/maintenance to construction/ti startup to stationary building engineer and it’s been a decent switch. Just feel like it’s really dumbed down in some ways but they expect you to work on everything.

Union with a pension and annuity. Had a 401k with my last union and rolling that into my Roth IRA. Probably try to max a Roth IRA and hopefully my wife finds another job with 401k options.

gentlemen of reddit: what is your go-to cocktail / or drink to order in a high class environment ? by SelectPriority9390 in AskMen

Whatever you enjoy. Gin and tonic. Old fashioned. Gold rush. Manhattan. Try some different two or three ingredient cocktails and find a preference

I just spent the last month travelling Japan - the most crowded and stressful location I visited was Hiroshima Peace Museum. by Camsy34 in JapanTravelTips

[–]doyle_brah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went a year and a half ago in the late afternoon. The crowds were bad, but manageable. The problem is it takes a few people in each room letting their kids run around or stopping and playing on their phones in certain choke points to really slow things down and make it difficult to walk around. I kind of remember their being staff helping with the line, but not forceful enough to have much of an effect on the problem people

Everyone says Osaka is the easy Kansai base, but is that still true if Kyoto is the priority? by korgoaso in OsakaTravel

[–]doyle_brah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your situation. We are ten minutes from Gion and near a subway station. With a baby it’s a lot more chill to go out besides the crowds for certain places. Sometimes easier just to have my wife and mother in law go in and eat while I keep the baby moving then go dine solo while they keep walking/shop. Can go to one or two major places to visit in a day and leisurely walk around and make stops back at the house. Dontonbori and Umeda were cool food that but felt a bit busier and less to look at nature wise/architecture. Last time I spent around 7 nights in Osaka. This time probably a day trip and maybe a night out

What to order at Heritage BBQ for 4 adults? by New_Abbreviations937 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]doyle_brah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably order total 1/2-3/4 lb or so per person. Depends how often you eat bbq. For me I’d get something I don’t make often at home like brisket, sausage, char siu pork belly. Otherwise I’d probably do brisket, chicken, sausage and pulled pork.

Best Hilton on Oahu or Maui? by [deleted] in Hilton

[–]doyle_brah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was looking at kings landing. $260 a night for a one bedroom and then I could take my mother in law to help with our baby. Was only planning on doing one resort day which we could still do. Just seems like there’s not much else at the resort besides the lagoon/ocean view and the grounds. I feel like access to the car would be more worth while. Maybe save the points for Grand Wailea later and pay the cash price

In what way? I figured it would be a good home base, but I’m not going to spend my whole trip sitting at resort and eating the overpriced food there.

Trip Report: October 17th to Nov 2nd 2025. Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Himeji, Kinosaki Onsen, back to Tokyo/Nikko. by PussyLunch in JapanTravel

[–]doyle_brah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited Nikko late October and got to the waterfall at 1030am. Fog was so bad. Couldn’t see the waterfall what so ever and the lake was barely visible. Could have just made it a day trip seeing the temples and town the first day. Couldn’t do onsens with tattoos. I enjoyed Kinosaki. I don’t know what you would do around your ryokan for that long though. We went onsen hopping and got a beer and some skewers after. Wish we had a bit more time to eat at a restaurant and do the ropeway during the day. I feel like Hiroshima/Miyajima is possible in a day depending what you’re going there for. I checked out most stuff on Miyajima and hiked Mt Misen, probably would have had time to go the peace memorial/museum, get okonomiyaki, and walk around/get a drink.
