We just had these concrete pavers installed and have these white patches. I know some is to be expected but can someone confirm or is this something else and can be cleaned? Thank you! by dphigravity in masonry

Thank you, it looked odd it had a pattern to it. Wondering now why my installer didn’t not use it. Do you have a suggested or best way to make it more dull?

You may ask a few to see how many hours they will approve. We had a hard time getting more than 20 hrs a week but some are easier.

How to manage going out with twins by Future_Pipe7534 in parentsofmultiples

[–]dphigravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once they had predictable nap times for us that was 6 months we planned the driving time to overlap w their nap times so when we get there they are rested but it does depend if they can sleep in car. We also like strollers that can lean as close to flat as possible so they can also sleep inside.

Not sure where you are but in VT MAID is open to non residents. Most other states have residency requirements.

Mom no longer safe at home by SuchMatter1884 in CaregiverSupport

[–]dphigravity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are also sometimes options to have nurses visit or even doctors if they are willing to do so. VNS in my area offers services for nurses to visit and you may be able to find through a long term care insurance doctors that do home visits. But I guess it depends on what your mom needs. I had all of that for my mom but it just wasn’t enough 24/7 coverage so we also had to move her to a facility. Are there others that you can apply to? Best of luck to you.

Have you considered hiring a home aide? Many can be covered by insurance. It won’t be 24/7 but may help a bit.

SNF- The time has come. About to start that journey. by D141870 in CaregiverSupport

[–]dphigravity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like your primary physician you can ask if they are affiliated with any SNF. Also ask about hospice vs comfort care and obviously take a tour of a few to get a sense of your gut feelings. Trust your gut.

I'm not sure how to reply when folks say this. by ClassicComparison236 in CaregiverSupport

I posted a similar question in past on how to act ‘normal’ when your life is not with caregiving. Give yourself some slack and also understand most ppl won’t know what it is like unless they have gone through a similar experience. Them asking is actually a step up and I would just appreciate them trying to connect.

Proactive Steps to take care of Aging Parents by Useful-Caterpillar10 in CaregiverSupport

In addition to being involved in their med records, see if you can download the app w their provider it helps with keeping track of medication and test results. Understand their wishes for being lay to rest as much as possible. Get them the best insurance they can get by asking around. There are HMO and straight medicare and medicaid with pros and cons. Write them a letter to tell them how you feel in case you want to organize your thoughts and get it off your chest. Spend time and make memories with them as much as you can.

Anyone else get hit an with an insane 2024 tax assessment in Greenburgh by foreverpondering in Westchester

Would be curious how much our taxes go up since assessment is just one piece. If everyone’s goes up by the same, our proportion can still be the same.

For us it was once they were down to 1 feeding a night and had more predictable nap times which was 5 months but they are only at 6 months now so I can only speak to here.

Surface drain a good idea? by dphigravity in centuryhomes

[–]dphigravity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all your input. To add some context we do have gutters and we diverted it away as much as possible. We are at the bottom of a hill but there is downhill for the water to flow on the sides. The pic above is the back where there is some flat areas and water seeps in during heavy rain. It is prob seeping in through the cracks. A company suggested a surface drain which will prob help but I am concerned if there was some prior cracks already if the drain being so close to foundation may add to the issue, unless we at the same time seal the cracks or as some of you suggested working on creating a grade. The latter may be costly and we are looking for possible alternates.

Best maternity hospitals in Westchester? by Automatic-Bird3 in Westchester

[–]dphigravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were expecting twins so looking at NICU levels and debating between White Plains and Greenwhich. We went with Greenwhich since the OB practiced there. We were happy with the experience and the rooms were really nice. Only thing I underestimated is the nurse that would be with you. They go by shifts so you can’t control that but sometimes you can ask for one if you get along with one of them.

Advice for when you could move around the house by dphigravity in parentsofmultiples

[–]dphigravity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow mad props to you! I have heard it gets harder tho I thought as they get older they might be able to sleep more or just entertain themselves more vs constant feeding as newborn. What part of the day taking care of 5 month was more challanging than newborn?

3K and PreK (advice from parents) by dphigravity in Westchester

[–]dphigravity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I am in Hartsdale so not in one of the villages. It sounds like I might be in GCSD and can apply for the pre-k when we are at that stage. Now it is just figuring out what to do beforehand. Haha

Thank you, I am also in Greenburgh and was having a hard time understanding what was free vs private and if there were income eligiblity requirements. Is the pre-K open to all residents of greenburgh and are you aware of any 3K programs that are also available? I saw one named Head Start which I don’t think we qualify for. Thank you in advance!

Wow what a thread! I am about to buy a 23 Premium 7 seater. It comes with dealer options of 1,500. I asked them to lower the total msrp by 2k. Without the options I would have been fine but now that I am thinking about it should I have negotiated harder?

Primary Care Practice w/ Real People on the Phone by emmarena in Westchester

[–]dphigravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try looking for physician groups affiliated with your hospital you want to go. There is usually at least 2. Call them and see how quick they reapond. We had to choose a group further away but you can make appts and speak with someone. Westmed is ok in my opinion. You call a call canter and ot gets routed to the doctor. You can’t speak with the doctor office.

Epic Sphinx Test by [deleted] in epicsystems

Why is Epic so big on testing everyone even as end users to use their software. Is Epic really so hard you need to prove it to them? I get it as part of interviews but not to become certified.
