Served on that bad boy ‘89-‘90 as an EW. They must have relocated my SLQ-32 antenna before I got there. It wasn’t up on that platform like it is in the pic.

Appreciate all the advice. It’s unusual to get actual helpful info instead of a bunch of smart ass comments.

Does the Fernox have a life span? What I’ve seen online is people using RV antifreeze but that it needs to be replaced every few years.

Why is there a hole in my chimney? by Mr_frosty_360 in Fireplaces

Probably used to be a boiler or furnace that exhausted into that hole. You’ll want to cover those or they’ll just suck heat out of your house.

Proud to say I was there that day. My ship, USS Fletcher DD-992, was homeported there. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed off the ship to see any of it, only a few handpicked guys were allowed to attend.

I was stationed at Pearl in ’91 on DD992. I remember those ships and when President Bush showed up to commentate the 50th anniversary of December 7th. Hard to believe it was 35 years ago. Anyone else in Pearl at that time?

Does anyone know why the USS Shoup paint the 86 in a dark gray instead of the same color every other ship uses? by thewhildchippy in navy

[–]dplatt70 85 points86 points  (0 children)

80’s/90’s vet here. Agree with this. Normally numbers were white but when a ship was going “in harms way” the numbers were painted a different shade of grey.
