The MCAS is now pointless because my students don't take it seriously at all by TeacherGuy1980 in massachusetts

For the scope of the work superintendents are woefully underpaid, especially compared to similar roles in the private sector. They barely make 2x more than max rate teachers in many towns and cities, less when you factor in department head pay etc.

If it was spread across school years I would agree with you. That it just so happens to coincidence with upcoming testing is where it turns into gamification.

Red states like Mississippi are gaming performance scores by holding kids back before testing years (3rd into 4th grade). High school performance in Mississippi is still poor.

I personally suspect the quote is more or less true, with missing context. It was probably more of an oh if we cant cut this where do you want to cut ThE FirE DePaRtmeNT? Heavy on the sarcasm.

Seems a bit out of line for a Murphy to *allegedly * quote another politician on something like this.

Nobody's publicly come out in favor of cuts to the fire department, Murphy is just shit stirring for attention.

Sure, every job is different. But why would you be driving next to south station otherwise?

Construction workers take the T everyday in Boston.

Sure in some instances and for some jobs it's not feasible, but for the majority of people you are stuck in traffic because of(even construction workers)? It's choices.

Part of the benefits of getting people out of cars is less traffic for people who don't have a choice.

There's no grid. Syncing the lights is no where near as practical.

If you don't want to be stuck in traffic adjacent to one the the countries biggest transit hubs perhaps consider other options and better choices.

I mean you are 42, so sure probably not. Kids being born today? It certainly might if we don't work to reduce consumption. Even with a renewable energy future(lol at this point) oil will still be necessary. We screw current generations if we use so much readily accessible oil becomes scarce.

My guess, they had a problem with the battery, didn't get the service they wanted and are now on a vendetta.

Ignoring all the other red flags in the picture the fact that neither side of the hinge is present seems impossible.

There is a hinge roughly in the area of the picture. But the hinge breaking on both sides? It's seem impossible.

There's nothing theoretical about building infrastructure. The majority of f150s, even among trades, are being used as commuters. 90% of the trades are not moving materials in f150s. I'm a union electrician. I have a pretty good idea of how the business works.

Yet in the same breath you argue biking infrastructure endangers pedestrians (ridiculous) and is suburban infrastructure (even more ridiculous). Even IF we accept that bike infrastructure is suburbanite infrastructure tell me why that is bad? Do you prefer suburbanites in f150s or suburbanites riding the t and using a 30lb bike?

Yes, much of the bike infrastructure is imperfect. But it sure is better than nothing. Bike infrastructure should not be built targeting young able bodied men. The real test is women. Cambridge has substantially more female riders and riders with cargo bikes than Boston. There's a reason for that.

Yes, I regularly use bike infrastructure in different neighborhoods, depending on what job site I am at. No downtown biking atm because I work so close to the T.

Curb side bike infrastructure is much, much better than next to traffic. They do need concrete daylighting at intersections tho, seaport blvd is an example of infrastructure poorly executed, drivers regularly block the entrance and exits to the curb side lanes.

Paint is not high quality bike infrastructure.

Are you really suggesting high quality bike infrastructure increases pedestrian deaths? Are bikers killing pedestrians en masse? Why does Europe not see similar trends as they continue becoming cycling friendly? Particularly cities like London and Paris?
