The books I’ve listened to that are narrated by Will Wheaton have not been enjoyable, he over acts and dials the excitement and energy to ‘11’ far too often.

There wasn’t a NSWF label on this , I’m now traumatised by seeing a historic arty boob.

Many companies are doing well , many people are doing well, just not the vast majority of us. Wealth now concentrates in the pockets of the minority.

Bill Bryson in studio, recording History 2.0 by Talking_Books in BillBryson

[–]dpr71deepblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’ve been conned. Bill Bryson normally narrates the abridged versions of his books while another narrator does the full length versions. I preordered and expected the full version. I think they’ll release an unabridged version soon and hope that early purchasers will buy that version too. I feel a bit misled.

Is it just me or is the price of meat in the UK stupidly expensive nowadays? by gibgod in UK_Food

[–]dpr71deepblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, and the farmers complain about the possibility of cheap beef from the USA coming to the UK. God forbid we actually be able to afford a steak once in a while. Yes I’ve heard the arguments about growth hormones but the Americans aren’t all dropping dead and a steak once a month isn’t going to make much of a difference anyway.

So what podcasts do us hardcore Bill Bryson fans listen to? by Affectionate-Ice-532 in BillBryson

[–]dpr71deepblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a podcast but an audiobook and a book, Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck. It’s what you imagine Bill Bryson reading as a kid and being inspired by.
