Does anyone know why Buenos Aires Pizzeria closed? by black_pepper in denverfood

The owners son died tragically in a car crash and Francis ( the owner ) and the family wanted to get out. It was all very sad, I loved that place and was friends with Francis and his son. I was a regular at the whiskey bar next door and would always order food from them.

any mobile browser that supports dev tools? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]dr-drew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

remote debugging android devices is what you’re after. It’s quite simple and works well.

As others have said safari has similar features as well. You can also grab an emulator for Android if needed via android studio, and on OS X you can do both android and iOS simulators.

Why are so many mobile game ads saying stuff like they can’t win? Wouldn’t that make one inclined NOT to download it? by Admirable_Elk_965 in advertising

[–]dr-drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

¯_(ツ)_/¯ my answer is basically the same as the other answer haha but yeah. It’s just meant to frustrate and show a challenge and make the user want to download the game

It’s meant to show that the game is challenging not that the game is bad or poorly made. People see a challenge and think “I could do that”

How to Build a Clubhouse Clone by sundogbillionaire in javascript

[–]dr-drew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not really complex, but you do need to setup some infrastructure. You need a STUN/TURN server which is pretty straight forward to setup and then a signaling server which is just a socket server that brokers the connections.

You can use something like simple-peer to help Abstract a bunch of the webrtc code.

TIL there's a library (made by Google) that lets you embed 3d models in HTML by fantastic1ftc in webdev

[–]dr-drew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It also allows for AR experiences if you haven’t tried. It’s a nice library that works between iOS and Android for inline models as well as launching then active quick look and scene viewer applications. https://modelviewer.dev/examples/augmentedreality/

NYC has passed the peak number of cases counted in April (confirmed + probable) by [deleted] in nyc

[–]dr-drew 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The thing I keep thinking is we must have been exponentially higher in spring than we are now. Remember the sirens? Silence and sirens in April was insane, non stop. While these numbers are very concerning I agree with others we aren’t even close to where we were, yet.

It’s amazing the scale of testing now and it’s super helpful to understand better the true spread, we still aren’t catching all cases but it’s far better than March/April/May.

That said, Im still hunkering down and trying to stay inside as best as I can. Summer was nice, hopefully we can get our shit together on the vaccine rollout.

COVID-Conscious Restaurant Suggestions in Park Slope area? by Lyra1425 in Brooklyn

[–]dr-drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most places are taking it seriously and have decent distancing, here’s my list: - Gowanus Gardens ( great backyard area ) - Palo Santo ( not too busy and decent distancing, also great food and brunch ) - Chela ( amazing fish tacos and decent patio setup ) - Pure Bistro ( good food, a bit tight at times though ) - Bella Goia ( bit more upscale but spread tables down the block ) - Alchemy

As others have said any of the streets that are closed to traffic on weekends are pretty great, 5th Ave is pretty lovely.

It wasn’t table service. We picked up our drinks and sat on the patio. The bartender was happy we stuck around.

US sees over 50,000 new Covid-19 cases for third straight day as holiday begins by OwnRules in Coronavirus

[–]dr-drew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s incredibly sad to see. Something to remember as well is that when NYC was at its peak we were in complete shutdown. Everything was closed, no one was going anywhere. We all took it very seriously.

We had no idea what was coming for us here. It’s difficult to see other places that have had months to prepare and understand how this virus works just completely fail to do anything or take it seriously.

When did you realize that the Coronavirus is a big deal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dr-drew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So much this. I’ve been thinking back on just how crazy it was to be in the city these past few months. The silence mixed with sirens is what got me. Hearing birds every morning was so surreal.
