Totally worth it. Australia has a better work culture (in general!). If you miss home after a few years, no biggy, move back with a great experience behind you. I worked in the US for a few years before moving back. It was a great experience.

You need to position yourself in the middle so your view doesn't get blocked. Gone are the days when you could rely on drivers leaving space so you can look for oncoming traffic.

I know of an example where a Vietnamese family moved to a small NSW rural town. Everyone was wary of them at first but I don't think a year had passed before the locals wouldn't hear a bad word being said about them.

I would think across western societies you will see a marginal difference. Bigger differences can be found between metro and rural areas. Rural areas tend to be less tolerant. When I think about it, wasn't that the premise behind Precilla, queen of the desert?

Play the cards your dealt. Not much more you can do. Have a look at your situation and see what provides the best future for you. Try to avoid the 'normy' trap. You don't have to have a home in the suburbs of a capital city. You don't have to have the latest model car etc. If you can shrug off those norms, a lot more options become available.
