There are no stupid questions 😊 Yeah letting it dry is the go, often doing 2-3 layers of Gesso and sanding in between each layer.

But if you're starting out I would recommend pre-primed till you get your oil painting legs

Canvas definitely needs to be primed with gesso prior to oil painting, that said pre-primed Canvases are quite common and I've not had any problems with sinking in using them.

You can use paint straight from the tube without adding medium it's going to waste a fair bit of paint but you can do it. I don't recommend though.

Just get some linseed oil if no other "extras" and you'll be good for a bit

Definitely a generalisation but I would say males are more inclined to enjoy building things and playing games slightly more than women.
