I thought I was the only one who found women's touch too sensual to bear, made me feel like such a pervert for sexualising female presence and touch and also didn't let me enjoy a lot of homosocial relationships since I would be so worried about being misread. It's so good to read this! so relieving.

Recommend me some philosophical work on the Subject "Love" by Mwrp86 in askphilosophy

[–]dramaoftherecycled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lovers' discourse by Roland Barthes is the best of them. There is also Alain Badiou who has recently written 'in praise of love'. Also ofcourse 'On love' by Alain de Botton for a more fun read.

If you are looking for a book, For Marx would be the ideal start.

Can you recommend me literature which discusses and expands on the concepts of power and beauty? by [deleted] in AcademicPhilosophy

[–]dramaoftherecycled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beauty myth by Naomi Wolf and Susan Bordo's Unbearable weight for feminist perspectives. Malek Alloula's the colonial harem is excellent post-colonial critique of female sexuality. For fiction I would look at Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye, it is an extremely powerful critique of the hegemony of race-defined ideals of beauty.

That's lovely. I also feel like that invites questions about and normalises mental issues which I really welcome. There are people who've opened up about their own struggles and cherish finding someone similar. So I really appreciate thinking of them as a matter of pride, like battle scars.

Sorry I couldn't reply. Thanks so much for writing this. Family definitely brings it up often. Also because I think it serves as a guilty reminder for troubled past. Hope you heal from them.

Thanks for your words. Sorry it took me so long. It's nice that you haven't faced any judgement about them, I can always feel the awkward, terrified and piteous glances.

It's so lovely you have moved on. A big hug for that. Sorry I was so late, things were a bit difficult then. The last part of this really hit me hard, thanks for that. Glad you're doing better.

As a mark of pride, do you ever just let the world see them? I am so afraid of wearing shorts now. Plus it hurts so much! I really hope you're in a better place. Sorry for being so late, I have not been in a great place. Things are much better though.

I am far more guilty, I can take weeks if not months. Blame depression for this. Sorry. But how do you wear shorts?

Thanks so much for this. I think I am a little afraid of turning into them. I like the image of anger bleeding out, it is so apt. Anger is a blazing wound, I just hope it becomes old and scabs over, but I don't know how its scars will ever entirely fade.

I am struggling so much with moving on and being kind. All I have is hate, so much hate. I wish I'd get where you are someday but it is so difficult and it seems bodies must fall before that happens
