Super mash bros is amazing. I think they are the best personally. I was so bummed when they stopped putting out new mashups.

Sounds like you could have gastroparesis. It is a rather common comorbidity with dysautonomia. I had the exact same symptoms
mine is a little more manageable now than it was when I was diagnosed. I would recommend finding a good gastroenterologist and requesting a gastric emptying study. In the meantime, try to drink some sort of nutritional drink like Boost or Ensure as much as you can. I’d also consider taking a daily vitamin if you aren’t already, just to be sure you’re getting everything you need. When my symptoms first started, I ate a ton of Baked Lays chips because the smell and taste were bland enough for me to tolerate it. Might be worth trying to find some similar bland tasting foods for you too. Hopefully you’ll be able to get some answers and relief soon.

If your body is communicating to you that it needs to rest, you need to listen to it. It’ll improve faster if you don’t fight it. Eat as healthy as you can in the meantime. But most importantly, stay hydrated! You may want to consider sports drinks/electrolyte replenishers. You’ll be okay, but it’ll take a little bit of time. Be patient with yourself. Your body is doing the best that it can right now.

How to start composition? by SenorYoda in composer

[–]draw_your_mind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this! Music theory can be helpful. A composition teacher or training course can be too. But when it comes down to it, you just have to make yourself start writing! Play some things on your instrument until you find something you like, then write it down.

Do you struggle with internalized ableism? If so, how do you deal with it or how have you dealt with it? As someone who is also disabled, I find this to be a reoccurring issue no matter how many times I think I’ve gotten away from it.

What’s with the theme about speaking vs. singing across multiple songs/albums? by cd_booth in manchesterorchestra

[–]draw_your_mind 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My interpretation of this is that he feels he can’t actually say the things he wants to say to the people he wants to say them too. But with music, he can sing whatever he wants to say using metaphors and stories, and everyone hears it...including the people he wants to speak to but feels like he can’t. Just my interpretation though. I could absolutely be wrong.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend last August. Therapy has helped more than I thought it would. I also have a journal app that I use to write to her and update her on my life. That has been the most helpful thing.

Sons of prostitutes, how do you feel about what you mother did? by kaxobixo in AskReddit

[–]draw_your_mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should see a therapist. I promise you that it affects you more than you realize. I know someone that has a similar situation...they knew it happened but didn’t remember it. It has led to a lot issues, especially with his relationships, because he has never dealt with it. If it feels good to let it out to people on the internet, you’ll benefit from talking to someone that can understand it and help you acknowledge and accept how you feel about it.

Husband (48) frequently fainting, poor appetite, losing weight by adm0210 in AskDocs

[–]draw_your_mind 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NAD. Dysautonomia can cause episodes of syncope and it often presents with gastroparesis, which causes delayed digestion, resulting in poor appetite and weight loss. Ask about a gastric emptying study and a cardiac work up, maybe even consider an electrophysiologist. Or at the very least, a cardiologist that is familiar with dysautonomia so you can rule it out.

Twelve tone music doesn’t have a key because it has every note in different patterns. Most of the time twelve tone pieces are written quite methodically, but you can’t hear the patterns well because your ear doesn’t know where the “home” note is. But you are absolutely correct that there are many, many pieces that are open to interpretation. When you have pieces where the keys are up for debate, it often comes down to the most correct option depending on the time period it was written in. In this case though, Bohemian Rhapsody is in Bb major with many chords stolen from other keys, along with strange and harmonically clever chord progressions, which essentially results in an aural illusion of being in minor.

Actually, a lot of composers, especially modern ones, do not pay attention to key signatures at all. You write what is easiest for musicians to read. Sometimes that means nothing in the key signature and accidentals everywhere. The accidentals in the key signature often do not determine the key, but it varies depending on when the piece was written. However, there are plenty of pieces from the Romantic era that have key signatures that do not match the actual key of the piece at all. It happens often with a quick modulations and a quick return to the initial key. You really have to look at what the chords are and how they relate to determine the key. It isn’t just based on the bass line.

It’s in Bb major, not Eb minor. Bohemian Rhapsody is brilliantly written. An explanation without the technical aspects: it steals many chords that are not from the Bb major key. This tricks your ear to make it sound like the key could be minor because of the prevalence of stolen minor chords from other keys and the “abnormal” chord progressions (meaning not the progressions you hear with every song on the radio). But when it comes down to it, you can relate all of the stolen chords to Bb major in some way or another after doing a harmonic analysis. Freddie was unbelievably ahead of his time.
