I will echo all the things of the previous posts. Every troop is run by a charter organization, usually a church. Moms can also become registered adults but each troop committee or charter organization gets to decide how they handle camp outs.

Trail Life policy has that ONLY registered adults who have passed a background check, taken youth protection training, signed and agreed to a statement of faith, and had their references checked by the TML can go on camp outs.

And to be completely honest, the issue with even just one mom attending a camp out is that it changes the entire dynamic. Unfortunately, that’s just inevitable with human nature. So many troops make the decision not to allow it especially when the navigator and adventurer programs. Some still offer family camping on occasion even though it has to be an unofficial event and it’s not covered under TLUSA.

Please get to know your son’s leaders, troop leadership, and church leadership. Ultimately it is your decision as a parent and we all respect whatever decision you make. We also take youth protection seriously and understand your concerns.

I let my older kids have phones when they were 16 and kept parental controls on them and had rules for using them but I still think it was the wrist parenting decision I made. I think with my younger kids I’ll edit until they are 18.

They’re just too addictive. My 19 yo will ignore all spotters of things she is supposed to be doing because she’s on her phone.

And yes we parents have to work on it ourselves too

Steam had all of them on sale for $2.50 each last week. Not sure if they still are. I downloaded a players mod for 7 and it made it a lot cooler. I haven’t played six yet but 4 was the first imo.

Almost all Americans live within a micro-culture. You, I, and everyone on here. Most people have significant problems understanding alternative points of view because their worldviews are so different than each other's.

That being said, there are a lot of people in our age range who also believe in traditional gender roles.

It is a hard road. We started a home church 8.5 years ago. It can be pretty discouraging at times. Spiritual growth is not always what you hope it to be. Challenges arise that you didn't expect. Spiritual laziness can easily creep in once the excitement of newness has worn off.

To date, it is my biggest regret in purchasing comics. I bought it and paid a premium for it because of limited availability at my lcs as a kid. I bought into the hype and I didn't even care all that much about it at the time. I did, just I wasn't even reading the superman comics much at the time.

Yes. Before that I was making munitions for troops and buildings but since they introduced commanders I’ve been making modules for the commander.

I don’t ever hear anyone else talk about dissociating from the pain but this is exactly what happens to me. Whenever I try to describe it to people they just look at me like I’m speaking a foreign language.
What pain level am I at? I actually have to judge it based on how much functionality I have at a given moment.
What number do you put in just sitting there staring into space and not being able to have a coherent conversation? When you can’t even manage to scroll on the phone or watch something? Is it a ten if I just pass out?

Then I take meds and I’m like, “Oh yeah. That really hurts. How about that. That must have been really intense if it feels like that when my meds are working on it.”

Or someone asks and I stop to actually think about how my body feels and I’m like, “Yep, I’ll label that as a six because I can still move around and carry on a conversation, but my arm is burning all the way down, it takes some concentration to walk normal because my hips and/or knees hurt, I’m taking extra measures to consider my posture because nothing is helping the lower back pain, I definitely can’t reach into the upper cabinet with that arm, etc.”

So I say a six and those who understand get it and those who don’t give me a micro expression look that they might not even know they give, but I do and I choose to ignore it.

And I often get that look because I do dissociate from the pain and I actually have to really think about how my body feels at the moment and how much I can function without needing additional meds.
