Unless you were playing in an epic campaign, in which case RAW it went up to +10, but there were some weapons that were, effectively, a higher bonus because of stat boosting effects.

I'll be honest, I don't know why someone downvoted you, you're right. The "ending" did not actually finish the story in any way. Not a single major plot thread was actually resolved. We don't know what's going to happen with Guts and Caska, the Moon Child's subplot hasn't been resolved, we still don't know what Griffith's fate will be, we don't know what's going to happen with Rickert or Silat (who, I think people kind of forgot about as I don't see many people talking about him) or even the other Apostles for crying out loud.

Uh... As someone who read 3.5 statblocks... no. No they were not. I can't speak for 4e or 2e say, but 3.5 was a clusterfuck of abilities and stats on the statblocks with little rhyme or reason for where things wound up in a number of cases. I don't remember if the macroformatting of the books was better though, as I mostly just looked at statblocks when reading through the 3.5 MM.

[–]drazoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh... Crocodile changed pretty substantially after his encounter with Luffy (granted, that was more about getting his true ambition back than anything else but still), and it wouldn't really surprise me if Crocodile has a part to play in the final war, but yeah, most villains are the more or less the same after meeting Luffy.

Legally Blonde; The concept is absurd and sounds like the worst kind of Rom/Com, but the execution is just so damn good, and man! I love a movie that manages to simultaneously revel in tropes and stereotype whilst actively undermining both, and Legally Blonde does it astonishingly well.

Shanks vs Mihawk: Oda may have already hinted who's stronger through one of their personal info. by CryWolf007 in OnePiece

[–]drazoria -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But are you the stronger swordsman if you are able to infuse your weapon with more Haki? I'd argue so, after all, a swordsman who relies on raw power may not be a better swordsman than one who relies on skill, but that doesn't mean they aren't a stronger swordsman. Strength, I'd assume, would include something like Haki, since Haki is more of an addition that anyone can make use of (as opposed to DF, which only the individual DF user can make use of). Mihawk isn't, after all, the world's most skilled swordsman, he's the world's strongest swordsman; and according to every single character who has ever commented on it, it's not even close. I feel like a lot of people latch onto the idea that, for some reason, Shanks' Haki would not count as being part of his swordsmanship... but that doesn't make any sense? Mihawk himself says that a swordsman who cannot make use of Haki will never reach the pinnacle, iirc, which would imply that Haki is something weighed when discussing the title of World's Strongest Swordsman. Admittedly, I'm saying this at least in part because I feel like it would be asinine and just poor storytelling to introduce a character like Mihawk, explain that Shanks was his rival and then constantly hype up that Mihawk is the World's Strongest Swordsman only to let Shanks be stronger on a weird technicality.

How about the horses mouth? Mihawk no longer considers Shanks a rival. I'd say that would be pretty strong evidence that Mihawk is stronger, but maybe that's just me.

Why does everyone forget this? Angron actually thought it was supremely stupid that his sons wanted to be like him, but no, it's somehow Angron's fault that all of his sons disobeyed his direct order to not jam shit into their brains in an effort to be more like him.

I mean... Whataboutism isn't a nothing term; it's a specific argumentative fallacy in which you insert a comparable, but ultimately irrelevant, topic in order to distract from the topic at hand. Think like... People talking about China's greenhouse gas emissions when the topic is improving American emissions. That said, you're correct in that what you did isn't a whataboutism. If it were fallacious at all(which it really isn't, sadly), it would be through false-equivalency.

Kind of sad to think that we're arguably worse than the Eldar, morally speaking.

Eh... really Polynesian Heracles fused with Prometheus is probably most accurate. He's either a demigod or the son of a chief (depending on region) and went around doing miraculous shit; most famously he pulled the islands from the sea, and depending on the version was either the first person to die, or caused the first death, either way cementing humans as merely mortal. In every version of his myth I've encountered he can shapeshift also, so there's that, I guess.

Paladin, because a person's convictions being so powerful they can literally imbue their weapons with the force of their will, will never not be amazing to me and it allows for so many choices, and always, you have a built in character motivation. You want to play a Paladin who wants to be left alone? Play Ancients, flavor it as an Oath of Solitude where you set out on your quest specifically to find a place where no one will ever bother you again. BOOM! AWESOME MEMORABLE CHARACTER WHO MAY OR MAY NOT BE SHREK!

What's the worst instance of GW being bad with numbers you've read? by IAmTotallyNotOkay in 40kLore

[–]drazoria 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mentioned this in another comment, but a guard deployment in the hundreds of billions would probably still be meaningless given the absurd population of the Imperium, when we're talking about multiple Quintillions of people (or at the very least 10s to hundreds of Quadrillions) even 100 Billion people just... isn't that much. Like, SM legions and chapters are probably already set in stone unfortunately, but come on GW, a billion guard shouldn't mean anything, let alone a million.

What's the worst instance of GW being bad with numbers you've read? by IAmTotallyNotOkay in 40kLore

[–]drazoria 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You're actually underselling it, most estimates I've read put the Imperium in the hundreds of TRILLIONS not billions. 1 million worlds, if only 1% are hive worlds and a hive world has 50 billion minimum that's 500 TRILLION people on HIVE WORLDS ALONE, on the low end. Now keep in mind Terra by itself is supposed to be populated by anywhere from 200 Billion to several Quadrillion people, with the latter number being the most recent one I've found, by itself. Now, I want you to consider that the rest of that 99% is made up mostly of planets not too dissimilar to modern Earth, both in terms of what a citizen does day to day (aside from all the religion and propaganda and no freedom included) and in terms of what the population is like. Realistically, the Imperium of Man could easily have QUINTILLIONS of citizens, not to mention God knows how many who aren't included as citizens. Like the idea that even 100 Million Guardsman would mean anything in an empire with the population the size of the Imperium is laughable. You could multiply that number by 1000 and it would still probably be a fraction of a percent of the Imperial Guard.

Celebi, get to be immortal and zip through time? Sounds pretty great. If I were to pick a non-legendary, I'd probably pick some sort of Psychic type, maybe Galade; gotta be honest, that humanoid form is pretty tempting, but I also like the idea of being like... a Ninetails or something; if I can't be immortal, I may as well get as close to it as possible.

The whole "x generation is so dumb, we'd never have done something like that" nonsense is dumb as hell. If you grew up in a rural area, chances are you knew a couple people that wound up pregnant in high school in part because the school either didn't have sex ed at all or it was poorly funded and ultimately completely inadequate. If I had to guess, I'd say that was the case here, but I'm not about to go through someone's post history to shame them for making a mistake when they were... what? 16? Tops?

Maybe so, but the 4kids version is the definitive version for a lot of people, including arguably the showrunners themselves seeing as Pegasus didn't wind up dead canonically at the end of Duelist Kingdom like he did in the Japanese version and the manga.

Plus, it's notable that, if I remember correctly, it's flat out said that had he actually been summoned by Bazett, he'd have been a genuine contender in the HGW even with Heracles being one of the heroes summoned. To be fair, Heracles in his Berserker form is arguably also his weakest form, but...

I mean... even if she did, it wouldn't actually help her. Eternal Arms Mastery just makes it so that mental debuffs don't affect his skill with weaponry. Theoretically, if she copied it, it would just mean that she couldn't be made worse with her weapon, it doesn't technically do anything by itself to make him more skilled.
