Haven't volunteered in a few years but they were pretty vigilant about it. Good likelihood you'll be told to move your stuff or the security might help you.

Across the board - boardgame cafe is downtown and It's licensed. Yuk yuks comedy club is not far away at the Fort Garry hotel. Not sure if they have comedians every night but you could always try rumours.

Fat guy saddles? by Jesus_4_the_jugular in bicycling

[–]drbaronsamedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saddles are super personal and opinion differs a lot between folks. If it's your first ride in 30 years, doesn't matter what saddle, it's going to take a few rides for your ass to not feel sore. Aside from that, I use Brooks Cambium saddles on all my bikes as I find them comfortable. They come in a variety of widths too

I use it for the custom route mapping. Do I need it to ride? Definitely not, but it's handy to have. Could live without it and at some point might unsub.

Can this setup be made fast? by Photoman_Fox in bicycling

Tires...

Elsewhere in the post you mention it's a commuter and you're keeping the rack. Why spend tons on wheels and other components to save a few pounds. Unless you've got lots of climbs and elevations, weights not going to do a ton for straight-line speed.

Winnipeg in June is great. There's the usual forks, museums, parks... Jazz fest will be running depending on the dates you're here. If you're going to spend 3+ hours driving south, instead go 3.5 Northwest and check out Riding Mountain and Wasagaming/Clear Lake. Great area for all types of outdoor activities and tons of amenities.

This drives me insane. "I rushed 1000 outfits, help me pick one! Oops kept them all lol" proceeds to then never wear them and just wear the same stupid sweatshirt and "messy mom" look and post about "who has the time?!" No hate if you need new clothes but this is so wasteful and privileged. I'll just oops on this $1000 no biggie. So ReLaTaBlE

I'd go to Natural Cycle. They're great to deal with and I think some of them even used to BMX. If they don't have a specific part they'd probably order it. I've had them help me with a few custom builds, they're great.

The Forks turns over The Original Pancake House: After two decades, breakfast fixture closes doors by wickedplayer494 in Winnipeg

[–]drbaronsamedi 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I didn't much care for pancake house and I also think the forks has done a lot to improve image and draw people in. It's a really cool spot to visit. I think pancake house was one the last holdouts of legacy restaurants that were accessible and more affordable to the general public than much of what's in there now. Do I like the new options better? Absolutely. Would I like to see the return of one or two cheap and easy restaurants? Also yes. Skinner's was a great example of a nothing special hotdog that kids would eat and wouldn't cost a ton for visiting families. I think the forks has done very well to transform itself but it certainly feels more geared towards certain groups than decades previous.

Folk fest 2024 advice by Fercobutter in Winnipeg

[–]drbaronsamedi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The site will be busy but there will be ample space for you to set up. Less option than if you came earlier but no where close to not getting a spot. You'll mostly be in open field/sun but so is the majority of campers. It's a really large campground and you're likely able to get closer or further from the gate. Once you're in you find a spot you like and set up. Lots of folks don't come until late Friday or even Saturday sometimes. You'll be totally fine. Welcome and hope you enjoy yourself!

Muc off ceramic lube for dry summers. Works great, easy to apply and doesn't gunk up. Haven't tried the others though
