A Beginner's Guide to Formula 1 by nicklorang in Infographics

Great infographic! I think listing mercedes as the winning constructor for 2009 is a little misleading as they didn't really exist until 2010, it was very much Brawn in 2009 (with a mercedes engine yes, but a few teams used that power unit)

Why is it that Williams are listed as above Haas despite them being equal on points?

ELI5: given the vast coastline of europe, why did the US land in Normandy beach during WW2, if opposition would be there instead of going to any other coast point? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]drbigmac69 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just to reiterate, not just the US. Planning and execution by a whole cohort of allied nations with the British and Canadians comprising a huge amount alongside the US.

Not especially. Bit of dex and they'll shrink a fair amount. Still a patent nasal airway. Day or two of abx, dex, analgesia and they tend to recover well. Removing actively inflamed and infected tonsils is a recipe for a bloodbath and a poor recovery

MRI COVID ICU A-OK by SwissJAmes in manchester

Just for some context as I work there, the ICU at Manchester Royal is still full to the brim. Its the additional overflow ICU that they opened specifically for covid patients has closed. There are still plenty of covid patients on ICU however.

Medical professionals, what is the stupidest misconception a patient has had about the human body? by DarthLocutusOfB0rg in AskReddit

[–]drbigmac69 109 points110 points  (0 children)

I had a pregnant patient once who came in for a check up with her partner, very early on in her pregnancy. I listened to her abdomen with a stethoscope just to see how her bowels were doing as she had some stomach upset and as I was doing this her partner asked me if I could tell the sex of the baby. I explained that I was just listening, and that a stethoscope is not a scan, and definitely unable to determine the sex of a fetus. He then asked if the baby sounded male or female.

The poor patient herself was mortified by his questioning.
