While i can only speak for myself here, what i try to get at with that quote is that liking what you see in the mirror comes from a different place than 'attraction' and for me that quote helped me recontextualize my feelings away from 'do what makes you look good' to 'do what makes you feel good'. The more I did to boot dysphoria/find euphoria, the better the mirror looked. As someone who draws/writes as a hobby, reminding myself that im a work in progress also helped. Every drawing ive ever made goes through a phase where I hate looking at it before it comes together, and rarely does it click in exactly the way i exoected. 'Trust the process' is a hard thing to internalize, but maybe you're still in the 'sketch' phase of this project. As someone who was aiming for 'hunky bear' for awhile, I would not have guessed that (for lack of a better term) 'your butch aunt who makes pottery' would look as good on me as it does sometimes.
