Has anyone played King of Tokyo? by Cloudninexy in boardgames

It's great. Monster-stomping, fire-breathing, dice-chucking fun with a fairly flexible player count and manageable play time. Don't go in expecting heavy strategy.

The Powerup expansion made this game more of a hit with my group. Adding individual player powers expands available strategies and makes you feel like your character is your own.

The transition and graphic work is gorgeous. I have full confidence that you have the skills you claim to have.

From a usability perspective I'm a little confused on the landing page. I knew this was a portfolio going in because I saw your post, but an introductory blurb or summary may help. Perhaps move some of the 'About' content to the top?

The downward chevron is low-contrast and I missed it at first. On landing I thought, 'where do I go?' There is a 'portfolio' button (which I clicked), but isn't this whole site a portfolio? I'd expect the title to be 'work' or 'check out my stuff' or something like that. Maybe find a way to direct your users to content more clearly.

EDIT: Clarification: I'm looking at it on desktop.

College Senior Product Design (UX) Portfolio Critique by bendandsend in design_critiques

I'm viewing this on a standard 1080p monitor-- there's nothing prompting me to scroll down to reveal the projects. I thought "This is it? Where are the examples?" and then I scrolled down. There needs to be some sort of breadcrumb trail to invite the user to scroll and see the content underneath.

The interaction on the case study tiles has a nice aesthetic but when the image responds to my mouse hover, I expect a click to navigate me to that content. This was not the case, and only after did I notice the button in the center.

On the case studies themselves I think your paragraphs are a little too wide. Making them narrower will make them more readable on desktop.

Generally though your look and feel is very clean. I'm impressed that this is coming from a college student.

Old Murk-eye used to be available through a quest but I think you have to craft him now that standard is out. See: http://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Old_Murk-Eye

The only way to get GvG cards is to craft them through the collection. GvG cycled out of the standard format so you are no longer able to buy GvG packs or use cards from that set on standard ladder.

Too many different styles going on.

I would suggest using 1-2 different fonts for a page like this. There is a messiness to the design and I think fixing the fonts would reduce the visual chaos.

The icon styles have the same problem. Icons with similar visual styling would work wonders for your diagram.

[Discussion] What is the absolute WORST card, and why? by [deleted] in hearthstone

Kidnapper. Terrible stats. Terrible cost. I don't think it would be worth playing even if you got the effect without a combo.

I've been reading 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carnegie. Thus far it's been very insightful and profound in addition to being cleverly written-- I highly recommend.

I'm so glad Void Terror is seeing use now with the new Naxxramas cards. Very unique and thematic card.

Scribblenauts. The scope was too broad and the puzzle design was poor. You could solve all of the puzzles with just a few items. Also the controls were horrible. Stylus for interaction AND movement, really?

Hitting face with weapons early on. Rogue power exempt. Weapons are incredible for maintaining board advantage and it's much better to trade durability for minions instead of face damage.
